Perfect porridge! Finally found after 20 years trying others.
After my lifelong mission to find porridge that could please persnickety Goldilocks, I am relieved to say Flahavan's fills the bill. As a kid I never liked oatmeal, but porridge was so storied I kept trying, since oatmeal was supposedly it. When I was 14, I visited England, finally tried the real thing, and it was love. Unfortunately, back in the States I could never find anything comparable. So I just kept looking. One restaurant had a tasty and properly textured version, which they claimed was a proprietary porridge blend, but they didn't sell the oats, just the meal at breakfast. I've had the discussion many times: you'd expect all oats are oats, and therefore taste similar if prepared in similar fashion, but they simply don't. I tried every kind of oats I could get my hands on, from German and Scottish imports to bulk hippie/health food co-op organic. Steel-cut, rolled, slow, quick, everything! I soaked overnight and boiled stovetop; used milk, water, cream, and mixtures of them in varying amounts. In spite of wasting a lot of time and oats over the years, I didn't give up. Like another reviewer here, I found Flahavan's at a Wegmans. A brand I hadn't seen before! Surely it would be a failure like the rest, but it's a pretty small package, why not just try? Thank goodness I bought it. I can't speak with authority for those in the UK, because as demonstrated by my not having seen Flahavan's in 20 years of US oat shopping, you must have many brands I won't encounter here. In the US, Flahavan's is the only brand I've been able to find to make porridge oats that taste like the delicious porridge I had in England. And that's just their simple, microwave in 3 minutes oats! Crazy to imagine after all the trouble I've gone to trying to stew up the perfect porridge. Wegmans is foolish for discontinuing Flahavan's, but I'm thankful they had it for me to find when I did. For anyone out there looking for creamy (oat-creamy, even made with just water), tasty, tender, truly porridge-y oats, do yourself a favor and try Flahavan's. Even if you think you've got something decent---I used to eat McCann's sometimes, but even though other people in my family still buy it, to me it now tastes so bad in comparison I simply can't settle for it. I'm still open to trying new oats, but for me the lifelong fantasy porridge oats quest has found a firm footing in reality with Flahavan's fairytale deliciousness.

Worth every penny. Fluffy, tasty, and creamier than any other oats.
We eat oats every single day and while traveling this spring in Seoul we could only find this brand at the Lotte Dept Store--didn't expect much and it was kind of expensive. Boy, these are the gold standard of oats. We add boiling water and kind of whip them and add dry milk, fresh fruits and a dollop of greek yogurt. Delicious and fluffy and smooth. I will never go back to regular rolled oats from Whole Foods after these. Seriously the best oats around.

Surprisingly delicious...
It's just oatmeal, right? Well, my wife brought back the remainder of the bag from her trip to Ireland. This is different (better!) than standard Quaker Quick Oats. Flahavans cooks just as fast, but creamier, and just better. I just bought another six-pack...

Fabulous Oatmeal!
My husband and I were introduced to Flahavan's when we visited London. It was a real game-changer for us. We can never go back to Quaker now! This is rich and creamy with a fabulous taste. This is true Irish porridge oats and a far cry from Quaker Oats--so much better. If you make it on the stove and use whole milk, it's heavenly. It also makes a lot of porridge, so you can actually use less than cheaper brands. We love it and buy it for our grown kids who are all healthy and love eating fresh foods.

The World's Best Oatmeal
I love Flahaven's Irish Porridge Oats and buy nothing else. I've tried other oats and these are THE BEST. In fact, I've given a bag or two away and now my friends buy them as well. They cook super fast, whether on top of the range or in the microwave. I will often make a huge pot and portion it out into small zipper freezer bags. Lay it flat on a cookie sheet, freeze, and toss them in my purse on the way to work. By the time I arrive at the office, the oatmeal needs just a couple of minutes in the microwave and voila! Hot, fresh oatmeal. Sometimes, I will heat the cereal in a mug and eat it in the car on the way to work. This is the Holy Grail of oatmeal. I prepare mine with either all milk, or half milk, half water.

Best as they come. Top choice for weight loss.
I am not sure how I found this in the first place, probably through a Jamie Oliver video. Oatmeal or porridge are known for having dietary fibers so it keeps you full for a longer period of time. It seems complicated to understand that a bowl of oatmeal would keep you full longer than a burrito but it really is. Another advantage of oatmeal is that it's also very customizable. If you a diabetes patient and a kid in the house, you can add tons of honey to one and just some milk in another. So, it really is top choice for weight loss. But why this one? I have tried Quaker, some off brands and that's it. Oatmeal are such precious food that you know the best one when you eat it, you don't have to try different brands. The first oatmeal I ate were those little packs of Quaker which sadly have a lot of sugar. I am cutting sugar from my life so much that the only source are fruits. I wondered if there was some other oatmeal that you had to cook to taste better instead of just adding milk. Through some research, I found Flavahan's and thank god I did. Looking at the reviews I don't think many people get this brand. The price difference is minimal and what you get for that is amazing. How I make it? It takes me 5 mins total to make these alongside my eggs including prep. This is very strict so I make sure not to add anything extra. I add 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup 2%, 1 cup water, salt, pepper and bring to boil. If I am in a hurry I put them in the freezer for 3-4 mins so that it cools down. If not I put it in the refrigerator for a minute or two while I brush so it's ready to eat. On the side, I cook 4 egg whites with one full large egg (some salt, pepper, red pepper flakes) and add it on top of my oatmeal. The total I'd estimate max 350. With this meal I'm full for 4-5 hours and get really hungry at 8. I do intermittent fasting so this is my only first meal and easily helps me stay below 1200 cal goal.

The best oatmeal
It has the best creamy oatmeal that I've ever tasted. Great quality product. It leaves you feeling satiated and curbs hunger. And it is fun to turn into flour for baking cookies, cakes and pies. I found this product in Korea. It was so expensive, but I grew up only knowing that old quaker kind and had a craving for non-lunch breakfast and decided to try it. It was the only available oatmeal. I do not regret it. It is by far the most superior oats on the market. I felt robbed that my entire life was spent on anything else.
