No modification necessary! And since it's a 2 pack o have a spare for next time it fails.I still have some winsinn fans on ye olde ender 3, and they're still going strong - they've lasted much longer than the original fans from creality that they replaced, so I have no issues buying these. No, they aren't super silent like noctua, but they're also like 1/6 the price of noctua. Size wise it's a perfect fit however in the pictures of the fan they never show the other side of the fan. It has a recess on in my case on the side that mates to the cover. The blind thread inserts fit into this recess making the screws to long for mounting (the screws provided were of a different type) as they would bottom out. Not a big deal but I would have purchase a different fan had I known. Ended up putting a washer between the fan and thread insert which works fine so far.
