These are the BEST fountain pens
I try a lot of different fountain pens but I keep coming back to these. They are easy to clean, sturdy, smooth to write with, the lids screw on so there's no malfunctioning like the snap on caps that so many others use, easy to throw in a bag, and they are comfortable to write with. I have probably collected 10 of these over the years and I'm finding (thanks to stay at home working and the opportunity for organizing) that the other pens I have purchased just don't hold up. I have yet to have any issues with these leaking while using. I did have one that developed a leak (I found it in the bottom of an old travel bag so it had been a while since I'd used it) but the ink pooled in the cap and not over everything else. After cleaning it all up (warm water is all it took) the pen works fine again! The small, flat nib gives your writing an extra flourish and I get compliments all the time about how nice my hand writing is just on notes I've taken at work. The ink cartridges are the standard, universal cartridge so refills are easy to find and inexpensive.

the Plumix has become a "go to" pen for all my projects
there's no question that i have a pen fetish and as i discover new pens and products, i can look over my collection and see that it is a wide variety. one thing that i prove to myself over and over - is that there a few pens that rise to the top and become my "go to" items and are true staples in a seemingly vast collection. the ink pen that i use everyday and keep stocked up on is the G2 PILOT (blue gel ink only) in a medium point or the new larger 1.0mm bold cartridge. for whatever reason, i don't think ANY of the other colors of ink in this series writes as well or as smoothly. now on to the PILOT PLUMIX FOUNTAIN PEN. i first came across this pen in TARGET, who carried the pen for a very short period of time. i was able to buy one and then i never found it again in any store - but i hung on to the original pen as a reminder to keep an eye out for it...... finally, a friend turned me on to Amazon and i was able (after 2 years) get the Plumix pen again. now, here's what i love about the pen - i actually write BETTER when i use the fountain pen. it forces me to take my time and with a calligraphy inspired nib - i'm able to write in a style that has beautiful curves and my handwriting is instantly improved. it seems cheesy to suggest that the pen is magical, but the bottom line is that the effect is magical and this pen has become one of the top "go to " items that i use in daily writing etc...... HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND this cool pen.

Perfect Nib for Small font Italic Calligraphy-esk Writing
I started out using a traditional calligraphy kit with a dip pen and everything, but I found that (for me) running out of ink quickly and constantly having to re-dip the pen was too much of a hassle, which drove me to look for a fountain pen that gave me similar results to more traditional looking calligraphy but wouldn't run out of ink quickly. After watching several YouTube reviews and reading a few articles, this led me to purchase the Pilot Metropolitan with the fine nib. While it wrote very well with zero problems, the fine nib couldn't give me the line variation I was looking for that comes from a more traditional style calligraphy. After further research, I decided to try a medium italic/stub nib to see if it would give me the line variation I was looking for but with the affordable and convenient fountain pen experience. Thus I bought the Pilot Plumix. My niche is LOTR / Hobbit style writing, sort of a union between italic and uncial, but small enough to be handwriting as opposed to large lettered calligraphy. As you can see in the pictures, despite my poor lettering skills and all-over-the-place letter sizing, this medium italic/stub nib from the Pilot Plumix performed perfectly for what I was looking for! Because the Pilot Metropolitan and Pilot Plumix use the exact same nibs, I was able to take the medium italic/stub nib from the Plumix and use it on the Pilot Metropolitan pen (as you can see in the picture). It's a perfect replacement, though I did find better writing results when using the ink feed that came with the Plumix rather than the ink feed that came with the Metropolitan. The medium italic/stub nib on the Plumix gave me the precise results I was looking for. It writes smoothly, isn't scratchy (though I'm not writing fast at all), doesn't require large amounts of pressure, and provides me with just enough line variation in the letters while still retaining that "hand written" feel. If you're looking for that extra bump in line variation while still using a fountain pen, but also don't want to break the bank, you can't go wrong with the Pilot Plumix. And if you spend a little bit more for the Pilot Metropolitan as well, you get the nicer looking Metropolitan pen and refillable ink converter, plus you can use either the fine nib from the Metropolitan (if you just want a smooth quick writer for note taking) or you can swap in the Pilot Plumix medium italic/stub nib and give your writing a bit of flair. It's really a great combination and I would highly recommend both pens.

Pilot plumix broad nib (1mm sized square nib) is really pretty caligraphy work and also in daily writing as well. It comes with one cartridge in black ink.
