IKEA APPLARO,Drop-leaf table, brown

We were moving & didn't want our dining room chairs with wheels on the new wood floors. Problem, no other chairs work well the dining room table we had. So, we needed a table. Did some looking online, & realized that a small table that could expand enough to seat everybody at family gatherings was going to be more than what we could afford (house wasn't cheap you know). Most of them didn't even come with chairs. So, we got creative.The Applaro drop-leaf table was on sale & it's absolutely gorgeous. It's for outdoor use, but it's working great for us in our rustic-style dining room. It's a bit narrower than a standard table, so I do use table clips to get the extra tablecloth up out of the way a bit. For those of you that can sew, you can customize your own. Also, since we use a tablecloth, it's easy to forget that there are slats that run across it, so a table pad made it so we didn't have to worry about where we placed our wine glasses. It also covers up the umbrella hole. We purchased different chairs for it - ones that are appropriate for a dining room - rather than a deck. The whole set up works beautifully, & we can seat as few or as many people as we'd like.It is an absolutely gorgeous table. When it arrived, It truly made me sad to have to put a tablecloth over it to protect it. I'd always felt that way about the much more expensive table we were getting rid of (Starburst table), but this dark wood was even more beautiful than than the oak one we were replacing.My husband, my son, & myself have been using this table for over 6 months & we're still happy with it. My family came for Thanksgiving last week, & seated all 10 of us nicely. We had the food set up on a long sidebar table. We all fit at the table comfortably, but it would have been extremely cramped to have an entire Thanksgiving meal at the same table at the same time. That never worked with our old table, and it was wider.So, we're happy with our outdoor table being inside. On sale, it was affordable. Because we didn't have to buy the chairs that came with it, we were able to really make it ours. We purchased a host & hostess chair along with a dining bench for our little family. It looks great. By the time the holidays rolled around, we were able to purchase some wood/leather folding chairs. We fold them up and store them when not in use. They match and fit beautifully.My husband was not convinced this idea was going to work, but he now agrees this was the way to go. He is impressed by how well built the table is. Oh, & if you're wondering. The drop leaves can hang down when not in use or be removed in order to store them.

I like tha the table easily converts from seating 4 to 6 to 8 people. It’s not bulky or cumbersome so works well on smaller decks.

Loving this table. Great that it can be small when we want it to be or large for a crowd for hosting a summer dinner!

I like that you can fold down the leafs. It can seat 4 with leafs done and 8 (little crowded) with both leafs up. You can use either leaf or put both of them up. Beautiful piece of furniture.

Nice looking piece. A little bit wobbly. Can't tighten bolts enough to make legs steady without striping threads. The sleeves you pull out to lift the extensions are tight and hard to do with just one person. You need to lift the ends and at he same time slide the extension bar to hold up the table extension. But you can only do it one side at a time,unless you have 2 people. Then one person can hold up the end while the other goes under the table and slides out both of the extension supporting arms.

I am so impressed I’m speechless! Beautiful product. It was so amazingly packed and prepared to mail you could have sent it to the moon and it would still be in pristine condition when it got there. Someone deserves a raise in this company!No chance for any part of it to fall out, be scratched, touch sharp objects, or be abused... IKEA is at the top of their game for a good reason.Thank you IKEA

Love the table as it's not that deep and you can extend it very long. Nice dark wood.
