does it work with the car cigarette lighter? does the battery not discharge after 7/8 hours of operation?

Yes it does run from the cigarette socket. Your not supposed to run your CPAP with the dehumidifier while running from the 12v cigarette socket. If your using it in a vehicle then your battery should always retain enough juice to start your vehicle the next day. It will turn your Cpap of before its exhausted.

Is this an actual converter or as it states a charger, Will my Resmed sence10 basically run directly from a 12v deep cycle battery with this unit.

It's not a charger. It can run off a battery but only if you attach a 12volt socket. Or you can plug it in your cars 12volt socket. I use it plugged into a solar power generator.it still runs the humidifier if necessary but uses less energy than a 3pin plug.
