LOOOOOOVE this clothes dryer!!
UPDATE, 1/21/2019: Still absolutely loving my rotary clothesline! No problems whatsoever. A few months ago, I replaced the homemade cover with another as the year-round sun here in Hawai'i destroyed the first one. Because it's always covered when not in use, the unit and clothesline stay clean and are in perfect condition. Again, highly recommended.UPDATE, 10/8/2017: Oh how I love this rotary clothes dryer! It's easy to use and easy to remove and replace depending on the need. No further issues with sliding the bracket up to open the item; it slides up and down easily without the need for a lubricant. Very, very sturdy unit even with significant wind. Great, solid quality. Rather than spend $50 to purchase a protective cover, I made a simple, zipper-less one for less than $5 using outdoor material purchased at WalMart (see photo). Excellent buy and highly recommended!ORIGINAL 2017 REVIEW: My landlord purchased the Breezecatcher umbrella clothesline via Amazon, which my son and I installed today. Directions were clear and simple. With a 60-lb bag of ready mix concrete, an 8x8 cinder block (our local Home Depot didn't carry 9x9s as the directions listed), a pail and long-handled mini shovel to mix it, a handful of small stones (per the directions), and a couple of tools to dig the hole, the installation was easier than I anticipated. Based on reviews on other sites, we used a small leveler to insure the base (the socket cemented into the cinder block) was level before pouring the remaining concrete. We struggled to slide the bracket all the way up to fully open the umbrella. It required both of us, and a lot of muscle, to get it latched. Will try a lubricant. Once installation was complete, I tightened the lines by starting at the knot on the top row, pulling it tighter as I followed the line row by row to the knot on the lowest row, where I retied it. The directions say to allow 1-2 days for the base to set, so I'll update this review after a few weeks of use.

Multiple design flaws
I have 2 of these.1) The spinning part has plastic washers that wear out. quickly. When that happens the upper part of the pole starts grinding the lower part causing it to mushroom so you can't collapse the unit.2. If you try to repair the above problem you'll see the manufacturer uses steel screws to secure aluminum poles and they get fused over time. So you can't repair / replace the washers.

Solar freshness
Wasn't too sure how well this would work but I was pleasantly surprised. The fact that it rotates make hanging the clothes much simpler as you can just swivel it around while standing in one place and since it rotates, your clothes dry quicker. It is a very well made clothesline and sturdy enough to hold linens and quilts, which can be weighty when wet. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a solar alternative to drying your clothes with that outdoor freshness that a conventional dryer just can't offer. We had an outdoor umbrella cover so I use this to cover it when not in use. I figure not exposing the lines to direct sunlight will help preserve them and keeping it collapsed when not in use will add years of service. It doesn't take up much room even when fully extended and when it is collapsed and covered, no one knows what it is, so if you have rules and regulations where you live, this gives a clean and simple look since it IS collapsible. It is very simple and easy to push into position when ready for use.

It looks like it is melting in the sun
Hi,I ordered this item in 2015 from Hayneedle. However the green plastic clothesline is deteriorating. It looks like it is melting in the sun, there is a sticky black oily film that comes off on clothes you hang. Any recalls or replacement line available.John [email protected]

It works perfect. Have it in position with the sun 8 hrs for drying. This is the best for this type & well worth the money. When not in use cover with 33 gal plastic bag to help the line keep extra clean from air particles etc. I'm 77 yrs love doing the wash!

Great clothesline
This is my second Breezecatcher. First one destroyed by hail. It's actually an improved product from first one.

Well made, well designed, works great
We wanted a rugged clothesline that was light enough to remove for mowing. This fits the bill! It is extremely solidly designed with a thick-walled aluminum post, stainless steel bolts as the pivot points, and good quality line. The spinning mechanism is smooth as silk. Nothing else we saw came close. We love it.A few minor caveats:* Although it is quite easy to raise and lower, the catch must be manually pulled even when raising it. This is slightly inconvenient, but no big deal.* It is not as easy as we'd like to get in and out of its mounting pipe (it is a tight fit). That may be our fault (e.g. we let grit in or bent the lip of the mounting pipe) or we may just need a bit of dry lube. For now, we mow around it.* The optional cover is a tight fit and is more suited for winter storage then for regular use.Alternatives we looked at:* An Australian model that was rugged but very heavy and expensive.* A space-age looking aluminum unit with an integrated fabric cover. We decided to pass as it looked too bulky and obtrusive. Also, we were worried the cover might jam or tear (not that we have any evidence for that).* Everything else we saw had numerous complaints of bad design and premature failure.
