how many amps does it draw?

The chart in this page notes the amps based upon the load it is lifting. At max load it draws WELL over 100 amps. Power formulas state that 1hp = 745 watts. So 745 watts / 12 volts = 62 amps at one horsepower. This will draw more than that when loaded to it's max load as that chart notes.

If I hard wire to my truck battery can the vehicle be used as the ground?

Not sure what you are grounding but if you're talking about the negative it is not for grounding you will need to hook the negative to the negative on the battery the positive to the positive on the battery that way you can change polarity to the motor to switch the direction that it turns

Surprisingly good for the money

I had a fancy warn winch running the plow in my atv. The warn died and I needed something to keep my plow going for the winter. I hoped this would last a storm or 2. It's worked so well that I haven't taken the time to put the warn back on yet. This cheap little guy lasted a whole plowing season running a 60 inch plow up and down in deep snow.
