Newton Baby Waterproof Crib Mattress, Breathable & Washable - Grey

Best purchase I’ve made for my baby outside of the Owlet. My husband lost his sister to SIDS when she was 6 months old so it was very important to us that we do anything we can for that extra bit of “peace of mind” when it comes to safe sleep for our son. Having a 100% breathable mattress has eased some of our anxiety when he moved into his own room and out of the bassinet. We even tested it by shoving our face into it as hard as we could! We did get the waterproof cover so that if there’s an accident, we don’t have to fully wash the mattress but I also love that you’re able to if needed!! That’s another amazing feature and reason we wanted it. It fits our normal size crib perfectly and will be able to fit in a toddler bed when he gets to that age. The quality is what you would expect from a $200+ mattress. It’s sturdy and not super squishy to help promote safe sleep, but still super comfy!

We switched to the Newton Waterproof Crib Mattress after realizing my son wasn’t sleeping well on his previous mattress, and he absolutely loves this one! He sleeps so comfortably throughout the night. I honestly didn’t think a mattress could make such a difference in a child’s sleep. I was worried about whether it would fit our crib, but it fits perfectly. I also love that it has two sides for different baby stages, and the cover is so easy to remove and wash. We’re very happy with this mattress!

I am obsessed with this mattress for a number of reasons. One, the mattress comes with a fitted cover with a zipper, a standard/newborn side and waterproof/toddler side and it is soft like fabric, not like plastic like on other mattresses that make the mattress “waterproof “ so when my child moves around on it it doesn’t make that plastic sound every time he moves. The cover is also machine washable so you can take it off and throw it in the washing machine just hang it up to air dry (it is recommended not to put in the dryer). Another feature I absolutely love is the mattress itself. The mattress itself is a firm rubber/plastic type mesh material that is also waterproof so if for example if the waterproof side of your mattress is down and it gets wet, you can literally just take the cover off and hose the mattress down (I did mine in the shower) and let it air dry. No springs , no foam, no cotton or padding of any kind and yet it is comfortable and my two under two love them. I have had to hose mine off once since I got my first one and it was dry before bedtime. My first mattress I got as a baby shower gift. I loved it so much that I bought my second one for my second baby so now they both have one. They are definitely on the pricier side but from mine and that of my kids experiences I’d say it was totally worth it. If I were to have another baby before my two kids go to twin beds I will definitely be buying another one. If not I will at least be keeping my current ones for future use.

Oh my gosh. The difference between the Newton mattress and one you go buy at a store like Walmart is like 100 to 1. No wonder my baby wasn’t sleeping good she would toss and turn and cry. I felt the difference between the two mattresses and I cannot believe I ever bought that mattress from Walmart. This is a hundred percent worth the money because who can put a price on safety and comfort. Like this mattress is not only amazingly comfy but it’s a hundred percent breathable which is the main goal. My little one started turning over so we had to remove her baby sleeper pad and she was so uncomfortable crying all night long. This mattress fixed everything she’s comfy safe and well rested now. I mother of three 100 percent recommend this and wish I had had it for my other two littles. :) and to address the reviews saying it stinks or it’s hard to clean…. I’m not sure if you got a bad one or what but mine does not stink I washed everything and it’s all good. I one hundred percent would buy this again. My baby has been sleeping (safely) through the night since day one. She’s A belly sleeper and I was so worried about her not being able to breath through that cheap plastic bed I bought at the store but I put my mouth the the newton and I could breath so easy. Thank you all for making this bed! I sleep with ease now :)

As a mom, safety and comfort are my priorities, and this mattress checks all the boxes. Great mattress! I have the non-waterproof version for my toddler but we purchased this on sale for our second baby as it was hardly any price difference at all. Right out of the box the quality of the mattress is really nice. I appreciate the woven, breathable fabric and the cloud design is really cute. I don't find the waterproof/washable feature to be really useful for us because they don't really mention how long it takes for the mattress to dry and honestly how the heck am I going to wash this if I don't have a shower wand? We just use a waterproof mattress cover which I rip off in case of accidents or sick and then put on a new one, much easier for us. Upon opening this out of the package there was basically no smell. The only issue I have (and this might just be me) is that whenever I am putting the waterproof mattress pad on and a crib sheet, it's so difficult to put the mattress back in the crib and tuck the sheets in. I am short so this is more likely a me problem. Otherwise, great mattress!

I just had baby #3 and decided to treat her to a new mattress. I had heard of the Newton Baby Crib Mattress but was a bit skeptical of its differences / uniqueness. Now that its here, I had to write to say that the Newton mattress really does make a difference!! It's just as comfortable as my former plush mattress but 100% breathable. I was in the unique position of being able to compare the two so I literally buried my nose in each: I could breathe like normal when pressed against the Newton waterproof mattress but when I switched to the old mattress with its waterproof cover I literally could not take a breath! I am amazed and now cannot imagine my baby sleeping on the old one! Also, the Newton mattress material seems much more durable and will likely not get tattered and torn like my other mattress did when it got caught on the crib mattress frame. I have not had to wash any of the Newton parts but the instructions on how to clean each component also gives me peace of mind in case I ever have to which is nice because when my last mattress got peed on when it soaked through the cover I literally had no idea what to do and was grossed out at not being able to clean it.

Excellent mattress

Pricey but so worth it. The mattress is comfortable, my baby loves it. It gives me peace of mind too knowing that it’s completely breathable even with a sheet on (I tested it lol). So glad I purchased this

As a first time parent, I was concerned about sleep. We invested in this mattress for peace of mind and so far it has provided that. I love knowing that if my active baby rolls over in her sleep, she will be safe! I have first-hand shoved my face into the mattress and could indeed still breathe! My baby is currently 7 months and has slept on this mattress comfortably ever since we brought her home from the hospital. The firmness of the mattress is also reassuring. I love the value in this mattress being able to flip it over and use the water-proof toddler side when she grows up. I haven’t had to clean the core of the mattress yet but am glad I easily could if needed in the future. It fits our IKEA crib perfectly.

Good investment, excellent quality

I am not sure why there are other reviews claiming of strong chemical smell, maybe a fake? The plastic they use is same as the plastic used for milk jugs and food safe. Mine came quickly completely sealed and upon unsealing it there is ZERO smell, just a clean breathable firm mattress that’s is washable. Happy with the purchase! Only downside I can think of is that it’s slightly on the pricey side.

It really is super breathable. It says standard size but it is quite snug in our standard size crib. The sheets fit but a little weird at the corners but it’s hardly noticeable. So far so good. Haven’t had to clean it yet. Will update review when I do.
