The pants were little long, but not bad. **Q: Does this open in the middle of legs for diaper change?** A: It would be much easier to just take the pants off. They come off easily. Diaper changes were no problem in this. **Q: Can this be washed/dried? If so, did it shrink?** A: We washed it and allowed it to air dry. It is made out of nice, soft cotton (with the exception of the shiny parts, but that doesn't touch baby's skin). It fit my 5-week old perfectly, though he is a bit bigger than average.We didn't use the mittens or booties because those were too big and kept falling off, so we used our own plain white mittens and shoes, instead. I also pulled off the little bow on the hat and trimmed the ribbons off the bow-tie. Super easy and quick. I tucked the shirt into the pants so the "cummerbund" would show.
