Amazing sauce!
Wow! This is the absolute best Puttanesca sauce we have tasted. When I ordered it I thought it was a little on the expensive side for 350g........... but you definitely get what you pay for. This is one sauce we will be re-ordering. Highly recommend this if you like Puttanesca sauce. My husband had his with a lovely fillet steak.

Tasty Sauce, Organic Ingredients, but Don't Cook with It
I've no issue with this Seggiano Organic Puttanesca Pasta Sauce's quality (every ingredient is Italian grown and organic), but one issue in terms of its practicality: the inclusion of olive oil. At room temperature or low temperatures (in salads, for example, or added to warm pasta on a plate) olive oil is extremely beneficial to health, but it isn't a suitable oil for cooking. The heat of cooking very quickly denatures health-boosting polyphenols and omega fatty acids in the oil. If heated for more than a couple of minutes, further chemical changes can occur (such as the formation of harmful aldehydes and lipid peroxides). The oil's low smoke point means that it gives off toxic fumes when heated above this temperature (which for extra virgin olive oil - like that included in this Seggiano sauce - is even lower than the smoke point of regular olive oil... considerably so). In summary, olive oil - especially extra virgin olive oil - shouldn't be exposed to the heat of cooking. At best, it loses some of its healthy properties. At worst, it becomes harmful to health. Because of this, I stirred the sauce through some wholemeal penne pasta I'd cooked, drained and removed from the heat, letting the pasta - rather than the intense heat from a hob - warm the sauce a little. After stirring the sauce through the pasta for a few seconds, I emptied the lot into a bowl and ate it straight away. I really enjoyed the taste of the sauce - the Leccino olives were bursting with flavour and the tomatoes had a real tang. Capers gave the sauce a tiny bit of a kick, making it distinct from most jar or bottle sauces. It's good to see no sugar in the ingredients, and sea salt the very last ingredient by weight. That's worlds away from most manufacturers' pasta sauces, which tend to be loaded with salt and sugar. The nutrient value of this Seggiano sauce is also higher than that of generic jar/bottle sauces made from cheaper, non-organic ingredients. As I said, there are no issues whatsoever with quality of ingredients. And there's no issue with flavour, which is delicious. The ingredients are organically grown in Sicily, where the sauce is made, put into jars, then sent here to the UK. With that in mind, of course it's going to be a little more expensive than supermarket-brand, non-organic sauces that are loaded with salt and sugar. It'd be daft to complain about the price. Most people accept that imported bottled beers made from quality ingredients are a bit more expensive than locally brewed lager. The same principle applies to pasta sauces, particularly when all the ingredients are organic. So the price complaint is not a valid one. Delicious. Pure. Organic. Just don't cook with it.

Lovely.
Absolutely gorgeous. Very rich taste which went will with brown pasta making an ideal meal. Bit salty, bit tangy, all the flavour.
