Why is It too expensive?

because good things, imported from other countries, made by age-old processes, costs money my friend. If you are not really into food that much...then this aint for you.

Was there a freshness date on the can?

Yes.!it is under the net weight —black ink and very tiny. Excellent olive oil

Can someone tell me what the ingredients list says?

The ingredient list is in Portuguese. It says "100% AZEITE DE OLIVA" which means 100% Olive Oil. Saloio Olive Oil has been my favorite olive oil for over 25 years. The colour, scent and flavour of this oil is exceptional in my opinion.

Does the can have a stopper of any kind?

The one I received in January had a pop-up, twist-off, resealable narrow spout not unusual for olive oil packed in cans like this.
