What makes this better than an Altoids container?

Functionally there are a few differences.
1. An altoids tin won’t press your cards together with enough force to destroy the mag stripe and your fingers. 
2. Something held together by the strap that holds your underwear up and costs $100 needs a lifetime warranty. An altoids tin cost about a $1 and is a heck of a lot easier to replace than dealing with the phone call runaround involved with trying to replace an item through a warranty.
3. Would you rather be falsely accused of shoplifting (disproven by the difficult task of opening the tin)? Or would you rather look like a tool while you fumble around with a gimmicky toy trying to find the right card?

Aesthetically it’s debatable, but people in general think that things that look cool, in turn make them look cool. Take a Ferrari for example, on a track it’s a wonderful thing. As a daily driver it’s just about the most useless thing on the planet. Who cares it your car can go 180 through a school zone? That doesn’t make anyone look cool, quite the opposite actually. Much like this wallet, which is a completely impractical pain in the -insert the word you know is supposed to go here- at the checkout.
But don’t think for one second that I am comparing this wallet to the near perfect engineering of a Ferrari. It’s quite literally two pieces of metal held together by the same elastic used to hold up your boxers. Who gives a hoot what kind of metal it is, its a wallet. I don’t need ballistic armor on my wallet, if you do then you probably have more pressing concerns than what your wallet is made of. 
A short answer would be that I could build this wallet in my garage for about 5 dollars and it would take me maybe an hour. But why would I bother when it’s less functional than a normal wallet?

Compared to the knockoffs on here that use cheaper quality goods? The price is higher because these are top-quality materials and there's a lifetime guarantee.

Which is better for quick access to your cash, the strap or money clip?

The Money Clip and Cash Strap are both good options, and the option you choose mostly comes down to personal preference! The Cash Strap is slimmer while the Money Clip can give you quicker access to your bills. The Money Clip has a single strong point of contact with the face of the wallet, while the cash strap runs along the entire length of the wallet.

The Ridge I received today was most definitely not made in the USA. Made in China. Too expensive if not supporting American jobs, in my opinion.
