Toast the flakes before eating
When I first opened the bag I couldn't place the smell, then I figured it out, it smells like hay. Wonderful memories were brought to mind, but hay is not for humans to eat. Toasting the amaranth flakes made the difference. No more hay smell or taste. Toasting in the oven gave the flakes a much better flavor. Makes a great hot cereal. Will definitely purchase more in the future.

Nutritious but Expensive
I have read about the benefits of amaranth, especially that it's high in protein. I do like it very much, the flakes have a very nice flavor, I add to rice and veggies without cooking. I wish it was more affordable.

Good for added protein.
I have no idea what is meant by thickness or versatility. I guess versatility means you can add it to anything, which is true. To call these “flakes” is being a bit generous, I’d call the consistency more a powder. The flavor is mild and not unpleasant. I purchased this to extend my granola and add some protein. I was using puffed millet which has a better flavor and texture, but very little protein. I think it would work fine mixed into a smoothie or in baking, and it good in my granola.

Delicious healthy product, but too expensive
I love this product, it is light healthy nutrient dense and great for healthy eating. The price is ridiculously high, in my opinion, its like paying 16.00 for 4 servings of oatmeal...please lower the price, I will buy ALOT more if you do.
