do you loose date and time and other settings when removing battery for charging

The camera has a built-in capacitor that preserves the date/time etc. I've never had any problem with this resetting on any Canon camera.

I don't think my answer is going to be a lot of use to you. The 90d is from the next series up of Canon's cameras, and will therefore have more functions, and it has a later version of its processor, a higher pixel count ( though you will only notice that with large prints) a greater ISO range. Whether you would see an improvement depends on the sort of photographs you take. Most people are over specified for the shots they take - I know I am. Some of my images I like best were taken on simple cameras. I have at present a Canon HS SX 620 which goes in my pocket and I carry it for convenience and the ordinary shots are indistinguishable from my 70d. But if you take videos, or operate in very poor light, or print out at A3, you should see a distinct improvement. It is still an APSC sensor, not a full frame, but in my experience none the worse for that. Horses for courses - I have the 620 in my posket, an HS SX 60 for its extraordinary telephoto capability, And I keep my 70d with a 10-20 mm Sigma lens on it for very wide angle work. The 90d has my favourite Canon 15-85 general purpose lens on it. The only L series lenses I aspire to are the 100 mm macro and an old 70-200 The short answer to your question is I suppose that there is a diminishing return for greater expenditure. A £22,000 Hasselblad still only takes photographs, however excellent. Sorry not to be more use.
