Is easy to replace battery for magnifier?

Yes,very easy. You can remove the 3 small screws on the top to replace battery compartment. It contains 3 LR927 batteries,and you can buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=LR927&ref=nb_sb_noss

I cannot imagine that it is waterproof.

Can this 30x loupe magnifier be used to check the condition of diamonds clearly?

Yes, it can chek your diamonds and other jewelry well. Very fast checking and solid.

Would this work for checking a diamond's serial number?

This device is a magnifier with a light. It also has a UV light. I use it to look at dates in the back of trade cards which is in small print -it works perfectly for me. The trick with this device is to be able to put the object directly under the light and magnifier - it provides approximately 3/4 of an inch space - any object larger than this would render the device not useful to you!
