the "decorator's varnish" to use for waterproofing wallpaper
Definitely what I needed. I wallpapered my bathroom. Because I have a pedestal bathroom sink the wallpaper is exposed and is directly behind the faucet levers. I knew the wallpaper would be ruined if I didn't so something. So I researched online and most sites said to buy a "decorator's varnish" to coat the wallpaper with. Couldn't find it locally at craft stores. So here it was, of course. I painted it on with a small regular paint brush. At first it looked milky. I was praying that it would dry clear. And it did. So no worries there. So far the wallpaper looks just like I just hung it even though I have washed my hands many times in that sink since. Good stuff. Great idea.

Great Product!
Update: This is still by far my favorite poly, but getting it from amazon will no longer be my way to go! They said it was delivered at 10:00 at night when it clearly was not, and now I have orders waiting to be finished and have to wait even longer for poly! AMZNL as carrier is crap! I will cancel any order coming from them every single time. I'm so upset! I purchased this after reading a few blog posts about it. I wanted something that was going to be as close to flat as possible without using wax on my kitchen cupboards. I will say that for a poly, this is probably as flat as your going to find! In certain light, it does have a very mild sheen to it, and does not give that same chalky texture that using wax gives you. The finish feel is more that of a latex paint, but I do feel like the texture of the chalk paint is still there, just not that same feel. The nice thing about this stuff is that there is no sanding in between coats, and it dries super fast! I feel like I made the best choice finishing my chalk painted cupboards with this stuff. With 4 kids in my house, three under 4, I feel like this will hold up much better their little hands! :)

Only product I could find that will coat paper wallpaper ...
Only product I could find that will coat paper wallpaper without adding shine or darkening color. (Very, very slight darkening of white, but not noticeable) Watch out; you can't roll it on with a roller. That creates tiny bubbles that may not resolve completely. I used a wide paint brush. Dries quickly and seals against moisture and stains. Comes from England, but arrived in TWO days. (Shipping was expensive.) I will use this product again.

Amazing!
This is wonderful stuff. Used it for sealing my foam reptile projects. Make sure you wait for the first coat to completely dry (it goes on milky but dries clear) before doing the next coat. If it pools or isn't completely dry, it will dry cloudy. Goes ok smoothly and frothy and looks gorgeous when it's all done!

Great results!
We used this to mix with a paint sample to create a "glaze" or weathered finish for our dresser and chest. Some colors from underneath still showed through since this was more transparent, but that was the look we were going for. We used 2 parts polyvine and 1 part paint (Valspar sample), and barely used 1/4 - 1/2 of the polyvine bottle to do both dressers. Just wipe on, leave for 10-20 seconds, and wipe off with a t-shirt, towel, rag, etc. Great results!

I only use this product to finish off my chalk paint projects. I even added a colored pigment on the first coat. Easy to apply And clean up.

Great quality and really water-resistant!
Iโm very happy with this varnish. It applies smoothly, dries quickly and leaves a clean, clear finish. The water resistance is excellent โ exactly as described. Perfect for protecting decorations and wood surfaces. Definitely worth the money.

Seems ok.
Applied this 'varnish' to wallpaper I hung on a feature wall in my bathroom. As to its ability to repel moisture, that remains to be seen. But I'm certainly hopeful.
