Geatex GXT60 Dual Laser Instant-read IR Non contact Digital Temperature Gun with Dual Laser Sight Targeting

I use this mostly to work on cars . You can tell what cylinder is missing by exhaust manifold temp or how a radiator is flowing... It's not so important to me to have an exact temperature but to compare on to another. That being said this unit is as accurate as my neighbors that cost five times the amount. I also own the 50:1 unit same brand and am pleased with it as well. I have advised friends to buy this. I do like the scan feature, as long as yo hold the trigger it keeps updating the temp. Only had these a few weeks so I'll update as I use them. MAY 29 UPDATE----- Used frequently the last couple months mostly automotive , as I said to compare cylinder exhaust temps , cold areas on radiators indicating flow issues and ac vent temps. I work on the cars of friends & family to make a little extra $$. I'm also into radio control and found this works great to check head temps on nitro powered planes ect. And the temp of motors & battery packs of electric models. I think you just have to keep in mind the size area your reading and the type of surface, a material that is exactly the same temp but consisting of a different texture or color will read different . This is true even with the most expensive units on the market. This also is powered with a 9v "transistor" battery which seem to last quite a bit longer than the units I've had powered by 1.5 V cells. I highly recommend this and it's 50:1 ratio cousin.

The Geatex GXT60 Dual Laser thermometer gun is a nice looking thermometer. It has a nice weight to it and is a nice size. It did not feel like a toy. I read other reviews complaining about the battery compartment and screw. They must have redesigned it or they were referring to a different model. The GXT60 battery compartment just has the front of the handle that swing down and you snap on the included 9 volt battery after you remove the plastic wrap off the battery and swing it back up to close it. It has all the features that I wanted, high alarm, low alarm, max temp, min temp, avg. temp, differential, adjustable EMS, data hold temp, laser on/off, backlight on/off, dual lasers and a pouch. But the main thing I wanted it didn't have and that was an accurate temperature readings. It was 5-10 degrees off. I tested it against another IR gun, home thermostat and an instant read thermometer. All three of the instruments were 1/2 degrees different from each other but the Geatex GXT 60 was at least 5 degrees lower from all three. What good is a thermometer if it can't give accurate readings? If it was maybe 1-2 degrees off I can maybe tolerate it but 5 degrees, no that won't do. I might have received a defective one but I'm not going to exchange it. I received it today and I'm sending it back tomorrow to Amazon for a full refund.

Bought two, one did not work out of box, even with a different battery. Amazon has a great return policy, which was extremely efficient. The one that does work, have had a few days, works pretty good, however did change the battery once. I am not sure if I left it on, or how the new battery went dead. Also, this may be a plus, all the button features, but I found it a little confusing. Nonetheless, I just ordered two more devices, completely different brand. I use these professionally, and granted, I don't expect much for $28, but I am giving this two stars.

Works great! This has been an extremely useful tool to determine cold/hot spots in my oven, as well as my stovetop cast iron griddle. I've also found it useful for deep frying. The only downside is it turns itself off very quickly, I would prefer a bit more standby time.Of course, it's also fun to take it around the house and 'test' different objects- the window frames, your cup of coffee, the cat... for $30, it's a great thing to have handy.

works perfect. the product arrived on time as described. I have no idea what some of the reviewers were complaining about regarding installation of batteries. The battery is a simple 9 volt like on most smoke detectors. If they are challenged with installing the battery on this device, they probably should not be buying diagnostic instruments.I use this for monitoring my woodstove temperature in order to indicate the proper time to begin catalytic combustion.

The dual lasers come in very handy when trying to get a very specific reading. When I received this infrared thermometer I was checking all kinds of things! I found leaks in ductwork, the temp of my AC and even the heat on the wheel bearings of my car. Good gun for a good price!

I liked this product, used it for smoking meats. It was also fun playing with it.
