I had heard about boar bristles and had never owned a brush like this. So, I decided to grab this one.Normally I use a stiffer, “mass marketed” brush for the roots and a wide comb for the ends since that is where the mass of the thick/wavy curls are. And, when I saw this, I thought it’d work pretty well.In my case – it is more of a smoothing brush than a deep “massage” brush, especially for people with thick hair. This is because the bristles are too short for certain hair types, mine included. It works on the roots, but not on the ends.The result was FANTASTIC when I tried it on my bangs.It was very easy to use, easy to hold. And, it does feel great when I was “smoothing” out my bangs and brushing them. It added quite a bit of shine to my and my scalp at that point felt great. But, with as thick as my hair is – it’s not going to get the full benefit.That’s not entirely this brush’s fault though, which is why I’m still giving it five (5) stars.This is a well constructed wooden brush, it comes with a “cleaning” tool which is cool and really handy. The bristles are fantastic – they’re softer than I thought, and don’t fall out even when running the brush over my palm (a test I use).It’s presented in a box that would be easy to wrap as a gift. And, it would make a beautiful gift for any occasion.Am I disappointed? Slightly. It is still usable, but not 100%. Still it is a great brush. I’d recommend for those with thinner and straighter hair though. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great brush, just doesn't work for my hair type (coarse and thick) *by K***M on January 19, 2020* I have an oily scalp but very dry hair so I thought this boar bristle brush would be the perfect solution, by distributing the oil along the hair shaft. Item is exactly as described and I especially like the darker wood but the fatal flaw is that the bristles aren't stiff enough to get through to my scalp.1/28/20 update: I originally gave this product 3 stars but wanted to update for two reasons. First and most impressively, Sonvera has provided phenomenal customer service. I am speechless! Based on my comments in the previous review, they recommended an alternate product that they thought would be better for me. Not only did they take the time to care enough to make sure that I got what I was hoping for, but the replacement product they recommended is amazing! It has plastic pins that are slightly longer than the boar bristles and grab my hair effectively. I even use this instead of my paddle brush to dry my hair! It seems like the bristles are gentle enough to avoid breakage... something I wasn't even thinking about until I realized I wasn't hearing my hair snap while brushing. Thank you, Sonvera! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Meh. It doesn't reach my scalp thru my hair. I have medium textured hair, not overly thick. I was disappointed with this brush but will keep it.
