Even in the soft garden soil of my yard, they were difficult to hammer into the ground, the second one broke entirely in frustration. I had purchased them simply to mark special plantings so the yard man wouldn't weedwhack into the beds. I suppose they served that. I will try to find some use for them and recycle them, but for heaven's sake and your own sanity -- DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
