National Hardware Chain Bolt, 6 in, Steel, Zinc Plated

Although it looks like cheap Chinese junk online, in reality it is very well made and sturdy. You can easily switch the direction of the angled strike making it useful for various angles and directions. It's not as good as the old USA versions with the square casing, but it should do the job.

Easy to mount and worked well with 5 x10 ft barn doors- the draw chain does require an extension due the tall aspect of the door- but otherwise great product

Wet strong spring. Was too strong for my needs. Should be solid for a gate etc.

This bolt makes latching the shed doors easy for a top latch. It's heavy duty enough I don't have to worry about it falling apart or corroding past easy fix or cleaning. The description says for in-swinging doors only, but reversing the bevel on the bolt is easy and takes about fifteen seconds...you can use for in and out swinging doors. A little white lithium grease on the bolt has made it reliably self-latching for me.

Will this work, Probably. Is it what is in the picture...no. I ordred this because of how it was pictured. It's very unclear the different styles of these and numbering. National has an older number that has been discontinued, but still available on Amazon, and other brands or manufacturers have variling housing styles too..from rounded to squared off. For what it's worth, this number for what I received does match what is on National's website. I agree with others, the spring is quite stiff and really only intended to be a manual spring loaded bolt, I dont see it working well as a latch, despite the angled end.

Got 2 of these and solved a long-standing problem keeping a set of shed doors closed. They work great and I smile every time I use them.

I have always been a fan of National Hardware. This is durable.

They do the job they were ordered for.

Bought 6 of these over a year ago and installed on top of 14’ high swing doors. Doors get opened and closed many times a day and these latches have worked very well and have been bullet proof so far. Had to buy longer chains.

It works, but the assembly of the plunger is loose so the door doesn’t fit tight against the door backstops.

Very sturdy should last a life time .I'm completely satisficed with product

This bolt has worked exactly I thought it would. I set it up in a hard to reach area of the barn and now don't have to use a ladder ever time I want to open the door.
