1904A WOODLIFE CopperCoat Green Wood Preservative, Quart

Awesome product! Much better ingredients than the brand Home Depot sells. I think it has a higher copper content.

I recently had to do a forced remodel of a bathroom thanks to an undetected water leak. When I went to pull the walls apart, I found that the original studs had been coated with copper green, brand unknown. Now since there is not a building contractor in the world that goes above and beyond to do anything more than exactly what is required by contract, i'm supposing that the copper napthenate that the original builders painted on was due to local building codes. So, wanting to stay in compliance and build the rooms back exactly as they were in their original state, I ordered the Woodlife Copper Green to coat the new studs. The product is very thin, goes on with a blackish-blue tint, and is best applied with a two-inch brush. It takes some practice with the brush to get the right amount so that you are not flinging it all over the place and wasting product. Once you have mastered applying the correct amount, it quickly soaks into the wood, and is dry within a few hours. However, it is not completely cured for several days. That being said, during the cure, the stuff will turn green. It will also emit quite noxious fumes. It smells exactly like an auto repair shop, just a bit stronger. Have a fan handy and open the windows for several days. I can't speak for the efficacy of this product. Upon inspection of the original studs that were also coated with copper napthenate, they had rot in them as well, just not as badly as the untreated floor. I honestly don't see where this product adds value or protection, because if your floor has rotted out, you may as well replace your walls as well. Even if the studs have not rotted, they have probably been in the house long enough they have become brittle and will split as soon as you rehang your wall board. Best thing is just to root out all of the wood that has been touched by water and replace it. One small container of Copper Green will coat about 16 studs.

Looked this product up before I bought it. It was listed as garden friendly and effective. It's very liquid - low viscosity ' seemed to really soak right into the wooden stakes I bought. My "project" was simple wooden stakes so I didn't bother getting too nuts with it. But if you have some wood you really want to last I think I'd do at least two "coats" to whatever's going below ground level and a bit above. And if you live in a wet climate I think I'd treat all the wood.

Good smelly stuff! Lol. I always use this or similar product when I cut a 4x4 or larger post to keep the rotor down to a minimum over the years.evwn though its pressure treated wood it does.t get all the way into the post so I use the chemical treatment to stop it from rotting g on the cut where it qould.habe water standing on it.

I built a large deck for my daughter in Vermont. It will be wet on and off all winter due to snow and snow melt. This is the only product I used to seal things up and give the wood substructure the protection it needs. EVERY cut end, and EVERY nail and screw hole. It does leave a greenish tint when painted on fresh wood. Similar to what pressure-treated wood looks like. If you want your deck to last, spend the time and a little bit of money to move the odds in your favor.

Appears to work well, but only time will tell after several years of ground contact. Really hoping for excellent results. I will update this post after 5 or 6 years.

I’m sure the product will be fine. Time will tell. Please heed the warning about applying in a well ventilated space, preferably outdoors. Despite using a respirator with organic cartridges I felt very dizzy after an hour working with this product. And yes I was outside. Otherwise, no complaints.

This stuff rocks, just slap it on with a paint brush on new cut ends or where board touches board. Especially end grain cuts. And if in central Florida, where the heat is intense, and it’s going to be ground contact. Hurricane alley, so be liberal with it. Plus, it doesn’t smell that bad
