Would it be suitable for an 8 year old, or more for a baby??

I bought for a 2 year old. Adorable but, not suitable for 8 year old

Does the elephant have bean stuffing?

No. It's not beans. It's soft stuffing. The outside is as soft as butter. It's very good quality, and adorable.

Is it suitable for a baby?

It's very soft and plush and a huggable size. I used it to top a diaper cake at a baby shower. As far as suitable- the only thing I see is the eyes are hard plastic and that wouldnt be an issue until toddler stage if the child pulled one loose somehow.

Does the elephant have a tail?

NO. Tailless :-) so it can sit flat.
