This Saw Cuts Wood
It cuts in a strainght line with a narrow kerf and is flexible enough to use for flush cutting dowels et al. It is not cheap, it feels small for so much money but it does the job and size is not really an issue: it is a saw with a flexible blade. Actually I suppose any greater length might be a disadvantage! I like it.

This review is for HACHIEMON Japanese Flush Cut RYOBA Saw
I realised some deal of practice would be required to use this saw effectively and I am glad I tried several test cuts as these revealed there to be a burr on one face which would have marked the surface when used on the real job. Turning the saw over so the other face was in contact with the work-piece solved the issue. Hence the 4 star review. The saw cuts well and did the job for which I bought it, flush cutting some dowels. It takes a deal of care to get a good result I found it helped to hold the blade down with my spare hand behind the cut to make sure was actually flush to the surface.

It was just what I was looking for.
Perfect saw for cutting through 10mm dowels after inserting into joints. The blade flexes enough to get a square cut in tight positions. Beautifully crafted and half the price of other similar products, it now has a special position in my shed and will be used regularly. I recommend this for the purpose I mentioned

perfect little trim saw for those small applications; very sharp but a strong blade

Sharp & Effective
The saw was used to cut a scoop (removing part of fingerboard) in the the neck of a banjo. It created a clean cut in the wood but struggled a bit with the plastic binding - just requiring a bit of extra care. It is easy to use but I would recommend a bit of practice first.

Great little tool for wood crafters of all levels
Itโs fantastic, sharp, quick to use and playable, also great to clean up edges and to cut away in areas which other tools canโt get too. The only downside is that it doesnโt have a protective sheath, to help preserve the teeth and any material it comes into contact with not in use.

Razor sharp
Very precise cuts . It cuts like a razor with serrated edges on each side. Nice wooden handle gives firm support whilst cutting. Perfect for levelling off dowels .Finishing off joint corners works well with this saw as it has a very fine blade. Overall an excellent tool. Will give quality precise cuts when used. I rate this highly.

Cracking wee tool
Saw this item being used on a d.i.y. programme on TV last week couldn't believe how small it was but really accurate. So I bought it for my husband he hasn't used it yet but its really sharp & flexible it will suit him down to the ground for all the little jobs around the house that a big cumbersome saw just wouldn't do.i recommend this item good price & quick delivery.

Cuts well doesn't leave a mark on the wood
Some of the reviews for this saw say that it leaves a mark on the wood when cutting dowels. I did some practice runs, and this might be so. However, I wanted to keep going and watched a few youtube videos on using a Japanese flush cut saw. The reason is that I was making a wooden clock and had to cut 12 dowels for the time marks. Finally, crunch time, my dowels were glued in, and it was time to saw them using this saw. I was prepared to sand it later if it scratched my wood. Wonder of wonders, not a single scratch! I couldn't believe it. The secret is to put pressure on the blade closest to the dowel so that the blade is flat with the wood when it cuts. Use two fingers to press down on the blade when sawing. I was cutting through a Tasmanian Oak dowel (hard wood) and it handled it very well. When I pressed it down this way, I suspect the blade was perpendicular to the dowel and cuts much better. I repeated this 12 times, and could not find any scratches on my wood even though it was pine (soft wood). Hope that this tip will help people who have bought this saw. I would recommend it. Enjoy.
