UPDATED: 4250 miles later, this carrier ROCKED IT! Awesome buy!
UPDATED REVIEW 7/2/19: Just got back from a 12 day, 4250 mile drive with this carrier and 3 bikes. This carrier performed perfectly! Bikes were solid and the carrier was awesome! This carrier just didn't go on a straight road for 4250 miles, it went up Pikes Peak, it went through the Rockys, Yellowstone, The Badlands, and to Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower, Crazy Horse, and 5 other national forests. Bikes were locked onto carrier with 2 bike locks and we kept them on the carrier at every hotel stay. Carrier had locking pin on hitch. The first day drive, I kept looking back to see if the bikes were OK and after about 3 hours, I never looked back again. This carrier performed well beyond expectations. It is now being used to haul around a Yamaha TTR-50 motorcycle and no issues as well. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made at Amazon. I highly recommend it.BTW, the photo is of a 2015 Rogue. The bikes were on the last 3 rack hoops. I could open the hatch of the Rogue if I pulled the handlebars of the bike closest to the car, so easy access to all the items in the back of the car. Didn't think that would happen, but since the carrier sticks out far enough, it worked like a charm. So I ordered this and got it today. I built it in 10 minutes and put it on the car with a bike and drove it around my block. It worked. Bike was safe and did not move. I did purchase an anti sway device and put it on and it made it rock solid. That device is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001CMUV4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Want to comment about other reviews that I found to be interesting.I saw a lot of complaining about the packaging, enough to cause a lower rating. Mine came in a box. It was wet. It was raining. The box was taped shut in 12 different places with heavy duty tape. It looks like the box corner was slightly dented due to someone lifting it and putting it down on a corner by accident. Everything was inside the box. Instead of strip ties holding the steel bar to the aluminum base, they were tied to the base with black ribbon you would get to wrap a present. I found this absolutely hilarious because of other reviews and, well, quite frankly, why are they using ribbon??? But, I am not taking a star or two off my review because the thing was also covered in bubble wrap and not a scratch on it. And really, the carrier review should be just on the carrier, not the delivery company or packaging or gift wrapping ribbons. The instruction manual is small. I wear bifocals and have had vision problems recently. But, I read the manual in full, then looked at the schematic of the carrier. I looked at the numbers and figured out what part was which. I put it together in 10 minutes and had no issues that the manual was so small. Since the carrier worked perfectly, came in good condition, and I was able to follow the directions after reading them all, I will not give it less stars because of the size of the fonts. My bike survived a trip around my block with a carrier that was rock solid.Others may have issues with packaging or font size, but I did not and the carrier so far deserves 5 out of 5 stars. We will be leaving on a Grand Tour of America soon. If the thing drops off my car due to a broken weld issue and impales a Prius or SUV following me way too close, then I will update the rating to something that fits the carrier, but I am not going to nick the product due to a delivery guy accidentally placing it down on a corner and causing the box to dent or because the company decided to print the manual on smaller paper using a smaller font. It is much better than Ikea BTW, mainly because there is no silly looking stick figures in the manual and it is actually pretty thorough.

I love it, but I think I got lucky.
So, I spent a lot of time deciding on this rack. It is available through a major US retailer that has a red logo, and the word "tractor" in, if ya know what I mean.... I needed it faster than their availability, so I reluctantly went through Amazon, despite all the hardships of those who gave it 3 or less stars. The vast majority of those reviews mention shipping damage, and missing parts. My did arrive on time, but not in a prestine box. The box was damaged, but I think I got lucky in that all the contents remained together, and intact. My guess is there is a flaw in this company's shipping dept. Take a chance and get lucky like I did, or search that other store I mentioned.....As for the carrier itself, I waited until I've used it a few times to write a fair review, and I'm very pleased with it. It's not so heavy that I can't install by myself (46 y/o relatively healthy guy).I strongly recommend a stabilizing u shaped clip which keeps it from wobbling around. They can be found for under $20. I torque the stabilizer to about 60 lbs, and the carrier is very secure. On several trips, and plenty of bumpy dirt roads, it stays put, nice and secure. It takes a little finagling with pedals and handlebars, but 4 mountain bikes easily fit, and stay nice and secure. The included velcro straps are adequate, and fine for me, but I noticed a lot of reviews mention missing parts, and bike aren't secure. I believe both to be a symptom of missing directions, and a missing rachet strap. The instructions indicate that a strap should be wrapped (weaving through the bikes) and around the frame of the carrier. This step is crucial, without it the bikes wobble and are insecure, but with one strap around them, I am able to shake the thing violently, and say the phrase we all know and love..... "that ain't Goin nowhere!"Overall, it's a great rack, has great versatility, is easy to use, and not too difficult to install. Like I said, I think a lot of people ordering get unlucky, and are receiving a damaged product with parts missing. I got mine on time, w all the parts and instructions, and I'm really pleased with it! Hope my review helps, cause I can empathize with anyone spending a lot of time researching bike carriers!

Excellent option for a four-bike rack & more!
Arrived well (and conveniently) packaged with minimal excess packing material and simple to untie straps holding it all together. I had none of the shipping or packaging issues other reviews mention. Easy assembly of just four bolts and two reflectors to attach.I was able to lower the tailgate on my 2017 Tacoma with four bikes loaded. A huge plus!Coupled with an anti-sway clamp on my hitch it firmly held four differing-sized bikes for hundreds of miles. Easy to load, easy to unload, it's a very secure option that doesn't damage the bikes. The ability to use it for other purposes is a plus. Lightweight considering its capacity. It does stick out, so if your vehicle is low to the ground (like a minivan) be aware that going through any sort of dip/curb could drag the rack on the ground. I could see the aluminum framing not holding up well to scrapes.A really nice option at a better price than much fancier racks that are mostly plastic.

Well made, works well, 5 of 5
Impressive quality, easy to assemble, and love that it can replace my bike carrier, cargo carrier, and handles 4 standard bikes or 2 e-bikes (see users who put tires in-between the tire holders for e-bikes).Just assembled, attached to car and strapped in a bike to test.Love that it is mostly aluminum (reducing weight and corrosion), and still rated for 500 pounds. A+.
