About the best bang for your buck, especially for a beginner's rod. I've landed five pound catfish with mine (though you have to hold the rod over the joint used to collapse it to make sure it doesn't pop out). I would recommend replacing the reel with stronger line, the line that comes with it is pretty flimsy, but otherwise this is a good starter kit especially if you grab some extra bobbers and splitshot weights from Wally World on your way out to your fishing spot.

Got this kit foru oldest son and he seems like got a hang of it, decent quality as we don't use it whole a lot, just go together lake fishing once in awhile. Quality seems decent, light enough for him and easy to store away, overall pretty good.

Great little pole. Easy to put together, easy to cast and a good value. The pole also comes with everything you need for your first fishing trip except maybe some worms.

I’m retired and fish about 2 times a week on the average. This rod and reel allows me to fish the willows and bream beds without spooking the fish. I can cast this rig all day long and not be worn out. It has help me produce some large fish and even a 12 lb. channel catfish. I would recommend any buying this rig to change the line to 8 lb. test with non memory. The one that comes on it has spool kinks in it when casting. Can’t buy a better product if you are an active fisherman

Ok but I noticed if you latch the hook and bend the end of the pole it will stay bent (if left that way for a short period of time). I assume Zebco is using cheap composite material for the pole. It's functional but a disappointing. I would not buy it again.

My son just started fishing and I lifted him thus rod. He loves it. It's durable and it's a great size. The color is good and good weight. He has been fishing everyday with it and has caught a few good size fishes. It tangled a few times but it could be from the way he cast it. He is a beginner but has been enjoying his experience fishing. I recommend this set. Great starter kit.

Nothing like the trusty Zebco 202 reel - for beginners, or even experienced fishermen/women. Super simple action, reliable, decent drag control, will cast a long way if needed. Easy to maintain, clean. Decent rod. All you need for light to moderate fish. Wouldn't want to go after big bass, or any other large hard-fighting fish - but up to 2 or 3 pounds - this will do the job. Great value.

I will update my review after use but we purchased this for our daughter and it appears to be a really nice looking quality rod.
