Very durable stainless steel and easy to use. I boiled my potatoes unpeeled and then peeled them (wait for them to cool a bit) I put the whole potato in there and used the smallest hole disc and then stirred in the butter and then stirred in the half and half and they were beautiful! Only prob I had after I squeezed a tater through the disc got stuck to the main plunger piece so I had to separate them. I was putting too much pressure on it and eventually the press plate bent rather badly.I retrospect, I think the potatoes weren't cooked thoroughly enough. They really need to be done all the way through, especially if you're going to be using the die with the smallest holes.Aside from that, I think it would have done brilliantly. I did still get some good mashed potatoes out of it before it broke.
