Walker Ultra EPA 16384 Direct Fit Catalytic Converter with Integrated Exhaust Manifold for Toyota Camry

The P0420 code would cause a Check Engine Light to come every few weeks for about a year, then it came on for longer periods, and finally it stayed on permanently. I found a Youtube video that showed the installation process for this exhaust manifold in detail, and suggested this particular product. The manifold seems to be very well made with thick flanges. Installation was very easy once the old manifold was removed. Every single bolt and hole lined up perfectly! Within 2 days, the CEL went out and I saved about $1000. Super happy.

This is the primary catalytic converter located at the exhaust manifold. On most models, the secondary catalytic converter is located near the middle of the exhaust system. This was a perfect fit for my 2002 Camry. Removal and installation took me about 2½ hours. I would have given it 5 stars, if I could have used the OEM heat shields. It has its' own heat shield, which is OK, but I don't determine it to be as functional as the original. After installing you'll notice smoke in the bay of engine, it's short lived oil burning from catalytic converter. Will update later.

Where the exhaust pipes connect to the exhaust plate, the connections were poorly welded together. One of the four had a 1/8 inch hard corner lip inside where the exhaust gas flows. Only one one of the four was done even halfway decently. I can't even begin to imagine how much drag that would produce on the air flowing through there. Plus, whoever packaged this thing didn't even bother to put *any* packing material inside to protect the part and the gaskets. The manifold ripped a giant hole in the box as a result, and one of the gaskets just fell out in transit (the one at the catalytic converter end). The other gasket that sits between the manifold and the engine was so badly bent out of shape that it was unusable. All in all, a very bad experience with a poorly manufactured part.

This is my third Walker direct fit CATC for my Toyota vehicles and I am very happy with the product. This time was a very special case of warranty service and Amazon just shines in this aspect. I had a CATC installed back in June 2013 on my 2003 Camry by a qualified auto shop but failed emission in May 2018! I had registered this with Tenneco who are the original manufacturer of Walker exhaust products back in 2013. So I reached out to them. Guess what, they just gave me a run around and referred me back to the "dealer" who I bought it from. So went back to Amazon CS with this issue. After just a few minutes of reviewing my record and the original product warranty terms, Amazon just processed my warranty as a defective product return with full refund money I paid in 2013. I was just blown away by this sort of unconditional warranty service or for that matter 5+ star 'CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH A SMILE". Kudos to Amazon and no wonder they have become the biggest and the best e-commerce retailer in the WORLD, period. Now a bit about the product. The CATC itself is well made and performs per specs. I got the new one installed by a local garage and this passed emissions. Additionally this replacement comes with a 5 year or 50,000 mile warranty again by Tenneco. Knowing Amazon will honor this warranty gives the peace of mind that I don't have with other dealers

The converter looks solidly made. Time will tell how it holds up. Like other reviews, the semi-rigid manifold gasket was thrown loosely in the Walker box with the big heavy converter and got bashed up and severely damaged during shipping. I had to source a replacement gasket. Is it that hard to put the dang thing in a sleeve and tape it inside the box? Looking closely at the gasket, I’d spend a little extra and go with the double sheet metal gasket like the original anyway. Edit after installation: I second what another reviewer mentioned - get all the attachment points lined up and started BEFORE you fully tighten anything. It will save you some headaches. Also, Walker left out one bolt point on the driver’s side of the cat so you have to leave off one piece of the Toyota heat shield. Not critical as far as I can tell, but it would be a nice detail. If you’re going to DIY this job, you’ll probably want a new exhaust “donut” gasket that connects the cat to the flex pipe, a pack of M10 1.25 x 40.5 mm exhaust studs & nuts, and some high temp anti-seize along with this item.

Please dont go cheap the cheap ones dont work and will cost u more time and money pay more and be done with it. This catalytic worked right away.

This catalytic converter fit reasonably well. The heat shielding isn't as good as the factory unit. It doesn't cost near as much as a factory unit. So far it appears to be a good value for my 4 cylinder Camry.
