I have bought a ficus benjamina it has sacking material around stems is it best to leave it in place ?

I wasn’t sure either but I decided to leave mine on and the plant is doing very well, so hopefully it was the right thing to do. Hope this helps.

What "soil" do you repot it in please?

I just left it in thw same pot. I think u can use normal compost to repot it.

Would it survive in a bathroom with no window?

Mine hasn't survived in the living room with plenty of windows
