From the Manufacturer Great for keeping lawn mower blades sharp. Will sharpen most other yard tools that need one-sided sharpening.

It works if you know how to use it.
This tool has 2 blades, 1 is straight up (90 degree) and 1 is angled (around 60 degree). This tool only works for blade that is sharpened on 1 side. To use it, put the straight up blade of the tool on the un sharpen side of the blade. If not, it wont work and may produce a bad result. Also, depend on how thick your blade is, this tool may works well or not so well. The key thing is the sharpen blade got to get the bottom of the slot of the tool. For me, this tool works very well on my hand held garden tools (thin blades) but not well on my lawn mower blades because they are too thick for the sharpen edge to reach the bottom of the slot.

Great product that will keep your grass looking great!
I'm pretty handy around the house. I redid my garage, I hang garage storage items, I paint things, install new bathroom fans. And I'd like to think I'm detail oriented enough to be able to take a lawn mower blade to a bench grinder and sharpen it. Just like my dad did when I was a kid. But I'm smart enough to know better. Yeah, I could probably do an ok job on a cheap bench grinder whose sole function in my house would be to sharpen blades. But I decided to try out this little tool first since it is much cheaper and has a lower possibility of ending bad.To my amazement, it works great. Sharpens around big divots and isn't going to take off where you hit a rock, but for the price paid (and the price for a new blade every couple of years), it does the job. I'm very happy I got it. My grass spent all summer looking nicely mowed, without the brown tops associated with mowing with a dull blade. Even the crabgrass looked nice.In fact, I tried it out on all my bladed gardening tools and it worked wonderful there too. Great product.

Good, but it has its limits
Yes, this is a plastic tool. If you use it to sharpen something like a heavy duty tractor blade, expect to spend a lot of time working with it. The small size makes it easier to drag around curves in the blade, and after many repetitive strokes its light weight becomes an evident advantage. I found it helpful to maintain a constant angle, and sharpening a bevel (with one side flat) was very difficult. It seems better suited for a garden hoe or flat spade than for a shovel or a mulching mower blade. The drawback to tool is its limited applications and it will definitely crack or break with too much force. Its value is a compact size and affordable price. Buy this, and you'll get what you pay for.

Cheap, But Effective
This really works! As others mentioned, it requires many passes to get the lawn mower blade sharp, but only a few strokes will refresh garden shears, hedge clippers, etc. It feels cheaply made (small, thin plastic), but if it works for even another few passes at the lawn mower blade it'll be well worth it!

It really works!
This little sharpener worked very well, but if you have a very dull tool or blade, don't expect it to sharpen in a few passes. I have an old Lawnboy mower that has never had the blade properly sharpened in over 20 years! I have a small lawn, and just never gave it much thought. Well this year I noticed how ragged the ends of the grass blades were. I tried to get the old blade off the mower to replace it, but I could not. I decided this little sharpener might work for me, and it did, allowing me to sharpen the blade while it was still on the mower. It took about 30 minutes of work, but it finally got a sharp edge on that very dull old blade. I'm going to use it on my branch loppers as well. Worth every penny I paid for it.

Good for the tool box.
First, this little tool does not replace your bench grinder or disc etc. I bought it to just 'touch up" the blades on my tractors without removing them. Its small size makes it easy to reach under the raised deck and give it a slight quick little edge. Of course it doesn't take out divots and dents, you have to take the blades off for that and sharpen them with a grinder. So, if you wanted to know if this can actually sharpen tractor blades, the answer is no. But it can give it a slight little edge on them. Just don't expect too much from it. I keep it in my tool box.

I do about 50 lawns a month though so may be good for average person
Seems to work on loppers. Mower blades biggest problem is dings and won't help there. I didn't notice a huge difference in sharpness of mower blade. I did not remove blade to sharpen though. Blades are 20 bucks so will probably just replace annually. I do about 50 lawns a month though so may be good for average person

Works for my use
This basic tool will sharpen your blade about 2mm wide on the cutting edge. You will be left with some cutting edge that is not sharp. It was enough to give my small electric mower a sharp blade.

It works! I’m converted
This actually works surprisingly well. Great value. Very safe. I’ve always sharpened mower blades with a grinder, until now. I’ll never go back. It’s so much quieter and quicker. Don’t even have to remove the lawn mower blade to sharpen it. I just tip my electric mower on its side and sharpen it in place. Grass looks better after being cut with a sharp mower, and it cuts it faster with less mower effort, which should help with battery life. I’m going to sharpen it quickly every few weeks now.

Good to maintain edge, not for heavy jobs
Fine for maintaining a sharp lawnmower edge, but not suitable for really dull blades with chips/burrs. I had to use a grinding bit first

Good for blade touch ups
Works to touch up mower blades. Will not fix large dents or dings, but works well to do final sharpening after using a grinder. Provides a very sharp edge.
