Fresh Step Extreme Clump Multi Cat Clumping Cat Litter, 14 lb.

I love my fur baby, but I don't want my house or her paws and fur to smell like cat urine when she steps out of her litter box. I also don't want chunky litter bits trailing out of the box with her when she hops out. I know there are people out there that are against scented and/or clumping litter because they believe it isn't good for cats. I would like to disagree with those people. I've had my fur baby girl for 8 years, and have only used this litter for her since her very 1st litter box day when I bought her home at 2 months old. She's never had any illnesses, she's never had any skin, coat or tummy issues from the litter, she's a very healthy and super active adult cat. She's also the only fur baby in the home, and has been since day 1. My family had used many other litters throughout the past 30 years with cats we had... thank goodness litter has come a long way over those years lol. Ever since the first time I purchased Fresh Step clumping litter, I've NEVER bought anything else. I have tried the different scents Fresh Step clumping litter has, but I absolutely love this Extreme Febreze scent the most. I have the litter box sitting on a large litter mat... I'm telling you there's barely any litter that makes its way out of the box, it's so great! The litter clumps immediately when she goes potty, it doesn't stick to her paws or in her little nails. The air around her litter box smells so good 100% of the time, especially after she goes potty and moves the litter around... it releases the amazingly fresh scent in the litter. I know it probably sounds odd to say litter smells great after a cat just pooped in the litter box... but, it really does! It's easy to scoop everything out, the clumping power of this litter is the best I've ever, ever, ever tried. I do clean the potty out of the litter box twice a day, which everyone should also do honestly. Not only is it about the cleanliness of removing waste, it also keeps the litter smelling great longer and allows the litter to keep clumping up immediately. I buy a larger amount of this from my local store up the road, but when they are out of it I will come to Amazon to order it...because this is literally the only litter I use.

Fresh Step is to cat litter as Charmin is to Toilet Paper. All other brands pale in comparison for clumping and odor control.

But in practice, it’s strong enough to fill a room quickly — and for someone like me, who lives with asthma and a colostomy, that strength becomes a problem. I didn’t cough, but I had to be extremely careful not to inhale the scent directly. I found myself using a fan every time I scooped or changed the litter, just to blow the fragrance away from my nostrils and eyes. It wasn’t a casual precaution — it was a necessary part of the routine. Without the fan, the scent would linger in the air and make the room feel heavy, even when the litter box was clean. That kind of effort — positioning the fan, timing the airflow, avoiding direct exposure — became exhausting. It turned a simple task into a chore that required constant vigilance. And while Sophie didn’t protest the litter, she quietly understood the shift. When we switched back to the Hawaiian Aloha version — a gentler, more soothing scent — she adjusted immediately. No hesitation. No confusion. Just quiet agreement. It was as if she knew: “This is better for both of us.” I’ve purchased this Mountain Spring version multiple times — from Chewy, from Amazon — and I gave it a fair chance. But ultimately, I had to let it go. Not because it’s a bad product, but because it’s not the right fit for someone with respiratory sensitivities. The scent is simply too strong, too persistent, and too disruptive to my comfort. And when you live with asthma, those details matter. When you live with a colostomy, maintaining a clean, breathable environment becomes even more important. I’m giving it 4.5 stars because it’s a well-made litter. It performs exactly as advertised. It clumps, it controls odor, and it’s trusted by thousands. But I can’t recommend it for people with asthma or scent sensitivities. The fragrance, while marketed as “fresh,” can be overpowering in enclosed spaces, and it’s not worth the risk if you’re prone to respiratory discomfort or sensory overload. If you’re looking for a gentler alternative, I strongly recommend the Hawaiian Aloha version. It’s lighter, more tropical, and surprisingly calming. It fills the room with a breezy ambiance without triggering asthma symptoms or overwhelming the senses. Sophie and I both feel more relaxed with it, and it’s become our go-to litter for maintaining a peaceful, clean environment. So while I respect this product for what it offers, I won’t be returning to it. It’s not a failure — it’s just not compatible with my needs. And if you’re someone who values scent balance, respiratory comfort, and emotional ease in your living space, you’ll thank me later for choosing the Hawaiian scent instead.

It does well with odor control and scoopability. It does get a bit sticky, but it still scoops nicely. I would recommend it. The odor control is wonderful too. I have purchased it many times.

This is the best cat litter for my self cleaning litter boxes. With four cats and two litter boxes , it does a wonderful job keeping down any smells. I learned if you pour it slowly, it does not kick up dust.

I have used this cat litter for many years and it is the only one that I have found to work with multiple cats. The way I use the litter I start with a clean pan and fill it up a few inches deep. As the days go by, I scoop the litter as needed and after scooping a a thin fresh layer to the top to give it a fresh boost. I do this for about 4 weeks before completely dumping the entire litter box and start over. It clumps well and is easy to scoop. The texture is fine and for the most part does not track outside of the litter box (of course each cat is different exiting the litter box). The cat odor is well managed. I will continue to buy this litter as I have tried others and they do not compare to the way this litter masks the odor.

The Fresh Step Extreme always works well. Clumps well and It's a good value for 14 lbs. It's a little dusty but not too bad. I buy this routinely for a long time and will continue to.

Tengo dos gatos y está marca nunca falla. Nopermite que los aromas salgan pero no tiene aroma tan concentrado, esto hace que no les moleste el olfato a mis gatitos

Tengo 3 gatos, uno de ellos tiene problemas renales por lo que siempre es muy difícil de que una arena aglutine su pipí y esta lo hizo a la perfección. Además que al ser tres, cubre el olor perfectamente. Lo único malo que veo es que no es mucha, es todo.

Es una excelente arena, atrapa bien los desechos de mi gato y huele muy bien. El único problema es que suelta muchísimo polvo.
