very pleased with this affordable compact ice maker. While I saved money being forced to choose the color "RED" that was totally cool because it just so happens all my counter accessories are red so that limitation worked out well. The ice maker itself works great. Makes ice very fast. If you live in a warm climate and you are doing an initial start up I suggest you chill your water first either in a freezer or refrigerator as this will help the actual ice cubes to be true to size. Once a couple of batches are made as the ice sits in the unit basket waiting to be used the melting ice keeps the reservoir holding tank of water chilled so that future batches are produced at normal size cubes. I suggest that you only keep the unit plugged in and in working mode only if you are going to keep using the ice continually. If you need ice on rare occasion, keeping the unit in off mode will preserve longevity of unit. (This is just a suggestion), I have not owned the unit for a long period of time to know if wear and tear would result from keeping the unit constantly on. This is just a cautious observation and opinion I give. This unit has not been designed for commercial use, but will definitely make enough ice for a party and guest get together if you need fast repetitive ice quantity for beverages. The unit really does make repetitive quantities of ice in the time frame outlined in the owners manual. (Each new batch in about 8 to 13 min.) If the ice basket gets full before you use several batches that are produced, the unit will stop making ice so as not to cause a back up. I suggest that if you are going to stop using the device for any given time, to empty the water reservoir and do not allow standing water for long periods of time to prevent the opportunity of mold/mildew smell from forming. Overall I am very pleased with the unit and for the price I do not think you can go wrong. The motor and fan are very quiet and the only sound you will really hear that is somewhat loud is the actual ice dropping into the basket between cycles.

As I've only had this ice maker two weeks, I cannot attest to it's longevity, but I'll update this review if it doesn't last as long as I think it should. I first heard of these a few years ago and my skeptical button was immediately pushed. Countertop ice maker. Pshaw!. Then the prices began to come down, and I really wanted to have ice at work without having to haul it from home every day or two. My kids gave me Amazon gift cards for Christmas and my birthday and I just decided - after reading a hundred reviews of several models - to purchase this ice maker. Still skeptical, but hopeful, (and confident in Amazon if it didn't work) I unpacked the beautiful appliance and set it up. Really the set up consisted of removing the packing tape that held the basket in place and plugging it in. I did rinse the basket out. I poured cold water in the reservoir and in minutes, literally less than 10 minutes the first ice cubes tumbled into the basket. I had meant to throw out the first few ice cubes but couldn't resist popping one in my mouth. If you are an ice eater/chewer (that sounds pretty disgusting actually) you will love this ice. At least with my water (filtered) the ice is white and soft. Not crystalline. And faster than you can imagine, you've got a basket full of ice. I dumped it on a cookie sheet which I put in the freezer (spreading the cubes out a little bit) and then dumped them into a basket in the freezer. You don't have to do this. you can serve from the basket. But I like lots and lots of ice, so I wanted a bucket of it in the freezer. The cabinet of the icemaker is not refrigerated, so the ice will begin to melt as soon as it is made. For some people this will be a negative; it doesn't matter to me because I want to freeze it anyway. (I don't dump it into to basket in the freezer immediately because it is wet ice and it will freeze into a huge lump instead of individual cubes.) The machine looks like a bread machine, but a little taller. It's a beautiful red color, kind of new car metal flake color. It's quiet. You hear the water trickle into the "ice tray" and then hear the ice cubes fall into the basket. I have it in my office and it doesn't bother me or clients a bit. When the reservoir runs dry, it stops making ice and a light comes on to let you know to refill the water if you want more ice. If you turn it off with ice in the basket, it simply melts back into the reservoir to be reincarnated into ice the next time you use is. So far I couldn't be happier. I love having ice - especially this kind of ice - at my office.

Unboxed, set it up, waited for 2 hours as recommended and within a few minutes we had ice! I used this for 2 straight nights and it works amazing. Funny thing is it became the talk of the party. Everyone enjoyed the fresh ice to cool off their drinks. This works wonderful and was worth every penny I paid for it. Update: It's been 2 months now and it still works like a champ. Our friends come over on weekends and this thing gets a work out with all the mixed drinks we're making. The ice tray is almost always full and everyone loves having fresh ice. I highly recommend buying one of these. Update 2: The machine flat out died. It gave an "Add Water" warning even though the machine was full of water. I cleaned it out but nothing. It would cycle, pretend to make ice and then error out again. Here's where I got mad. It was still under the 90 Igloo warranty so I called them. Igloo informed me that even though it has their name on it, they don't make it and they would not honor the warranty. Click, they hung up on me. So,Igloo just lost me as a customer for life and I plan on making it know to everyone how horrible their customer support is. Thankfully, I purchased the extended warranty through canopy and they were really awesome. They e-mailed me a shipping label within minutes for a full refund. So, lesson learned, never trust Igloo but by the extended warranty.

This lasted through 1-1/2 years of steady, frequent use before it died. While it worked, I loved it! I like to chew ice and don't want to damage my teeth. This ice maker has two sizes - Medium and Large. It calls the two sizes Small and Large, but there's not much difference between them and the "small" is too big. When this died, I replaced this model - ICE101 - with the larger Igloo ICE103. The ICE103 has three sizes, so I hoped that the 'small' would be smaller, but I learned that those three sizes are really Large, X-Large and XX-Large. What it calls "small" is the size of the Large for ICE101. In other words, if you pay more, you get more sizes yet even less choice than before! The ICE103 is larger, which would help if you want more capacity, but it takes more space, and I regret buying it. I wish I had simply bought another ICE101 as a replacement. What broke after a year and a half was apparently the electronics - no matter how many times I reset it, it kept flashing first that it was out of water and then that it was full of ice. Neither of those was true, but it kept going back and forth. Earlier, I had thought it was broken because it said that it was full of ice even when it wasn't, but I checked other reviews here and learned that this sometimes happens if the ice basket isn't down all the way. This was a pain - it sometimes decided this even though I had not moved the ice basket. since the day before. I eventually learned that it helped to splash some water around the edges of the basket. I don't know if the water helped the basket slip down further, or if it just got the sensors wet, but it helped. Overall, I would buy this again, and wish I had repurchased it rather than replacing it with the larger ICE103. The cubes were great for chewing - I just wish that the small setting was a bit smaller.

First, let me say that I rated this product as 4 stars instead of 5 only because I have only had it a short time and, given the high percentage of negative reviews, cannot comment on its durability. I bought this ice maker with serious reservations. None of these counter-top ice makers have received good customer reviews, at least on average. But, I have a French door refrigerator with a bottom drawer freezer. It has an icemaker in the door. The icemaker is terrible. Its ice production is pathetic and the icemaker regularly fails to dispense ice even when there is some. It generates half as many ice cubes per cycle compared to most built in icemakers. It is unable to produce sufficient ice for my family. I tried ice cube trays in the freezer but they take up too much freezer space and take a long time to freeze and are a pain to empty and refill. I thought I would try a stand-alone counter-top ice maker despite the negative customer reviews. I bought this model about ten days ago. So far it has met expectations. It only makes maybe half a dozen cubes at a time but does so in 7 to ten minutes. The machine makes roughly gum drop shaped cubes with a hole down the center like some of the big commercial ice makers. When made, the ice is only lightly frozen. Also, the machine keeps the water to make new ice cubes and the ice cubes it’s already made in the same area. That is to say that the machine doesn’t have a sub-zero storage area so as soon as the ice is made it starts to melt, albeit very slowly. Personally, I don’t find this to be a problem. I run the machine for maybe 6 hours and as the machine’s storage bin becomes full, I just dump the bin into a container in my freezer. Since the ice cubes are relatively soft and coated in unfrozen water, each batch will freeze together a bit but with a light whacking the cubes break up easily. Of course if you’re using the ice as it’s made this issue is irrelevant. Based on the above, many people might consider this machine to be a poor solution. However, if you compare the cost of this machine to a commercial counter-top machine, the little bit of extra effort is more than compensated by the lower price. My ice needs only require me to run the machine one day out of three and I am very happy with it. The other great concern with any of these counter-top ice machines is quality and dependability. Customer reviews reveal a high percentage of machines that are faulty from the start or fail after a very brief period of time. I’m afraid this is typical of many Chinese-made products. In defense, I bought the recommended 4-year extended warranty for about 11% of the cost of the ice maker. I have always had a rather dim view of these extended warranties but in this case I thought it warranted and worth a try. If I need to use the extended warranty, I will comment on how it worked out.

This is my second icemaker first one I had for five years second one I just have. I love this little thing. It works like magic. It takes its time three minutes for small ice cubes eight minutes for large ice cubes and if you put freezing cold water in there it makes it go faster. Very nice little icemaker.

I have owned this machine only a few hours and I already love it. When I was pregnant I got a bit anemic and loved chewing on ice. I still crave it. The ice at my house is too hard on my teeth and I was spending money at Sonic and AM/PM for the "crunch" and "pellet" ice. I was apprehensive buying this machine but reviews were great and I have to say I couldn't be happier. The ice is delicious and definitely munchable. It's not pellet ice, but it's still very easy to eat. The best part it that it melts a bit in the tray making it very soft and pleasing, easy on the teeth. I use the small size setting. A few notes: The instructions say to let the machine sit for 2 hours and not to turn it upside down due to the refrigerant. I didn't realize this when unpacking it and had tipped it on it's side to remove from the box. The machine makes 10 cubes at a time. I expected more, but given that it makes them in under 10 minutes it's not a big deal, just something to be aware of if you're planning for more than yourself. You'll definitely want to remove the ice and freeze it in your fridge to be ready. The other thing is that it was hard for me to fin the max water line because it blended into the white plastic. I had to actually feel for it and once I felt it I could see it, but initially I didn't notice it. If anyone likes ice and is looking for chewable ice, but doesn't want to spend a fortune on the fancy machines I would highly recommend this ice maker.

I purchased the red Counter Top icemaker by Curtis International, for $89.00. Upon arrival, the documentation was ADAMANT about following the directions, placement, airflow, letting it rest for two hours before starting it up, etc etc. So I followed the directions to the letter, and, I put the unit on the floor in the middle of my kitchen, so, plenty of airflow. I have been careful to only use filtered water. When I started it up, it made a reasonable amount of noise, not unduly loud. when it is cycling, I can hear it in the next room well enough so that I could easily identify what the noise was, but less noisy than a standard dishwasher. Makes small amounts of ice very quickly. In one day, it makes enough to fill my 2 gallon ice therapy system unit. But it requires continually removing the basket of ice and packaging it and putting it into the freezer. The basket holds the amount of about two standard ice cube trays. If you do not empty the basket, it will stop making more ice. If the ice is not removed, but the machine is left on, the ice will quickly melt back into the reservoir and trigger making more ice, a significant power drain. So it is not a unit one could just leave plugged in and on, whether one wanted more ice or not, as, the energy consumption would be significant, while not making any ADDITIONAL, merely replacement, ice. As an auxiliary ice maker, it has been handy. I have it to supply my two gallon (standard size) ice therapy machine. It cannot really keep up with the demand of the ice therapy machine (for 24 hour use, it needs to be refilled with COLD ice 3 times a day), and because the basket is so small, one must empty the basket often (about twice an hour). So, although it is fast to make the ice, the storage capacity is minimal. I spend significant time servicing the machine. It is very heavy (condensers always are), so initial placement should be well considered, as, moving it is the same as moving one's microwave, not particularly easy. I would give it five stars if it held its ice frozen, and if the reservoir were much larger. Because one must be sure to turn it off to avoid the infinite looping of making and melting ice, and because it is heavy enough so it cannot be considered portable in the least, nor will it hold more ice before automatically stopping ice making it gets only three stars. To get five stars, it should either have an automatic shutoff option or it should be able to keep the ice frozen, AND have a larger reservoir. After five days of use, I have no other complaints. If you have a need for quick ice making and you can live with these shortcomings, and you have PLENTY of countertop space with plenty of air flow, it is a good unit to have. As far as reliability and length of use, I will follow up in time.

I am not being able to make Ice at all. Not even a single piece of Ice dispensed by the machine till now.

Love it! Have been using it for a couple months now and it's working great... The cubes are a bit softer than ones you would make using ice cube trays in a freezer, but I like the chew ability of them... It makes the cubes at a good pace... It wouldn't keep up with a big party, but for a few people it's fine... It doesn't make too much noise when it's running, it lets you know when you're low on water, and the cubes don't melt too fast if they'll left sitting in the machine... I leave the machine running and if the cubes melt, the water drips back into the water reservoir to be made into new cubes... At the end of the day I find that some of the melted cubes have stuck together so I either break them apart with the ice scoop and use them, or dump the ice basket into the reservoir and it makes a new batch of cubes in the next 15 minutes... I like the amount of water the reservoir holds - you don't run out of water too quickly, and the ice scoop is the perfect size for filling up a glass... **I did want to mention that when it arrives, you have to let it sit right side up for 24 hours so that the fluids inside the machine find their way back to where they need to be... Mine was not delivered 'Right Side Up', but I let it sit for 24 hours and it worked perfectly at first and since... I wonder if some of the people who had trouble at first may be experiencing it because it was not kept 'Right Side Up' during delivery or when it was delivered, and then not allowed to sit for those 24 hours...

Después de un mes de uso puedo decir que es un buen producto los primeros hielos se deshacen muy rápido pero después de 10 minutos empiezan a salir muy bien, yo lo uso para tomar whisky con hielo de vez en cuando y me funciona muy bien en verdad lo recomiendo
