Where can I buy a replacement glass filter?

We repurchased an entire Cona maker on ebay even though we only needed the bowl.  Parts are too hard to find.  Thirty years ago we bought directly from Cona in England.  Keep searching on ebay.

Can the coffee be made on the stove, or is the wick burner the only way to make it?

Accepted Answer

In principle it could be put on a gas burner, provided the flat Ø 8cm ( equals 3.25 inch) bottom of the pouring bowl is properly supported. This would for example be the case if the stove is actually an electric ceramic plate. We suppose, but are not certain, that the bakelite handle won't get hot from radiation heat. It is a common mistake to think to bring tapwater to boiling point with the alcohol burner must take a very long time.  It doesn't if the flame of our alcohol burner only has to provide that 'final push'. Our laboratory quality glass withstands pouring boiling water straight from an electric kitchen kettle into it. Our advice to 'get coffee'fast: use pre-heated water. No heat source beats an electric boiler. I'll never forget why 50 years ago my mum's kettle on the stove had a whistle. Hearing the whistle blow would tell ye ... finally. Nothing beats the speed of an electric kettle.

How can I get a listing of replacement parts for Cona coffee maker size D- genius?

Please contact our CONA Factory A. Gezang & Co BV by direct email. We can then respond by sending you our replacement part price list. This varies per country on the globe, as we somehow have to recuperate shipping costs, that for US destinations is about twice the rate of any EU destination. We can ship any spare part anywhere, but PostNL/USPS shipping rates start at about US$25 for even a tiny replacement part, whilst sending 1 or even 2 complete coffee maker costs our factory approx. US$50 both with a track-and-trace.

Do I have to use coarse ground coffee?
