Smooth and comfortable
Use this to whittle bark off of branches for my reptiles enclosures. The knife is so comfortable to hold and sturdy. It cuts through the bark like butter. Love it

Good quality knives!
So I picked up the knives from Purolator yesterday. I didn't have any green wood on hand, so I just worked up a little scoop out of dry pine.So I guess it's easiest to break this up into pros and cons.Pros:-Both of the knives were more comfortable that I suspected they would be.-Both blades were very sharp out of the package.-the steel seems to be of a very suitable thickness and both have a profile that lets them cut well.- the carving blade cuts very well, and I would say just as well as the Mora carving knives I have.- both blade styles seem to be set securely into the handles.-neither of the blades needed to be resharpened after having carved the pine scoop.Cons:- the hook shape of the hook knife it too tight of a shape for most spoon and bowl carving. It doesn't allow for the long sweeping cuts needed for the bowl of the spoon. If it were closer in length to the carving knife with the curve gradually increasing toward the tip of the knife, it would be far more effective. The Mora hook knives suffer from the same design flaw. However, for small scoops, they do a fair job.- the inside of the hook blade is slightly convex. This doesn't effect it's sanity to effectively cut, but is a difficult shape to resharpen. A Flat or concave surface is what's necessary for the inside of a hook knife.- the carving knife has a gap where the blade meets the handle. It's a small criticism, but aesthetics matter to some and can make a difference.- the round hole in the handle that the blade is driven into is secure, but I fear over time, the repeated pressure on the blade may cause it to wiggle loose. It makes sense as a cost saving method, but I would recommend the addition of epoxy.- the handle shape of the straight carving knife should be thicker with a more oval crossection. It's current handle is not uncomfortable, but would benefit from more body. That said, the profile of the handle is very good, and I like the the way it feels in my hand. I just prefer the a more oval shape in the thickness of a handle.- the copper collar on the hook knife I received is not tight and spins on the handle.Over all, I really enjoyed using the knives. I won't get much use out of the hook knife for the reasons listed above, but I will definitely be using the straight carving knife. It's a very good blade and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
