Colsani 14-piece Cake Decorating Set

I received the Colsani cake decorating set a few days ago and have been wanting to try them out. Today was the day! I had some small cupcakes to frost, so instead of doing my usual smear with a knife I tried out a few of my new cake tips. First, I washed the tips and the bag. Then, I opened the PDF of the Quick Start guide to see how to get the tip that I wanted to use in the bag. I don't see very well and could not quite see what was going on in the pictures, even though there was a description accompanying each photo. Luckily, there was a video on youtube called How to Fit a Coupler into a Pastry Bag which was very helpful. My tip was in the bag and I was ready to go. I had never done any cake decorating before and was thrilled with what a novice like me could create. It was a 95 degree day and my kitchen was hot, so the frosting was not as cooperative as if could have been, but the cupcakes still looked nice. Also, since the bag was cloth on the outside, it was easier to grip with my hot, damp hands. It was easy to switch out the tips, and to clean up everything afterward. I've attached some pictures of my very first creations.

The tips are very nice. Unfortunately the set did not come with instructions. Being a new decorator I did not know how to assemble this or that the bag would need to be cut to size. I tried to follow some YouTube instructions but ended up cutting the bag too far and was not able to use it. Large ziploc bags ended up saving the day. But overall, it would be nice to include cutting instructions or even having the bag pre-cut to the correct size.

Perhaps it's my fault but I didn't realize the tips were so small, and not really suitable for cake decoration...

I would give zero stars if possible. The cake tip did not fit the bag, the bag only had an opening the size of a thin pen. It's own accessories didn't even fit/work with it. Worst bag I have ever seen! Super Disappointing...will stick to our local bake shop for supplies.

No instructions come with it so tried to find instructions online, cut bag several times trying to get it to fit, the last cut was too much now it doesn't fit. What a waste. Why can't you include a bag ready to use? Or instructions?

I have not even used it, but the quality is nice and the packaging of the produce is great - I have found with these sorts of products - they are comparable to each other - but what sets them apart is the customer service! Colsani reached out with the instruction guide (which is not included in the kit when it arrives) in an email - the day after I got the product. I shared that in my excitement to try it out, I cut the bag too low - rendering it useless, well much to my surprise they not only acknowledged my frustration but sent me an entirely new set FREE of charge! 2nd day shipping. That blew my mind! Note to anyone getting the set - there is no mark on the bag telling you where to cut it, you have to insert coupler (removing nut first) and mark the outside of the bag where the first threads of the coupler show through. Hope that helps!

No instructions or markings on how far to cut bag for tip. I am new to this and had never used one before. Well I ended up cutting my tip too high and the frosting was oozing out around the tip. Otherwise bag is of great quality and so are tips.

I've used several (admittedly cheapish) cake-decorating sets in my (mostly successful) quest to bake the perfect vegan cupcakes, and this set is my favorite—the bag is easy to clean, which to me is the most important thing. The coupler (the plastic piece that screws in the tip) disappeared off the drainboard (probably wound up in the recycling bin by mistake), and I really didn't want to have to buy a whole new set because that would be wasteful. When I contacted Colsani through Amazon they responded right away and offered to send me a new coupler for free. Excellent customer service!!!So my only recommendation is, because the coupler is small and made of clear plastic, make sure you dry it right away and put it back in the case so you don't lose it! I'll be more careful next time. :)
