very enlightening
This book contains a lot of helpful material that sheds a light on why you react a certain way in different situations. I did an immense amount of highlighting so I could go back and review the information I found most helpful, which I don’t do with many books. I feel a sense of understanding and peace now regarding my parents, and why they treated me the way they did. My frustrations are eased. This truly is an awesome and eye-opening book.

Just what I needed & more
I absolutely loved this book. I found the author's thoughts clear to understand. The examples enables me to self-reflect & apply what I have read. I am learning to seek me for what I need 1st, giving myself Grace, compassion & empathy. Allowing myself to feel my emotions. I absolutely have & will recommend.

Good self-help book & primer for a professional as well
I’m in a residential substance abuse treatment setting and discuss the “inner child” construct with my clients. They always ask how to re-parent. This is a nice primer for me, and a good tool to have clients take turns reading a section each day in group for discussion.

Doesn't include exercises to cope with trauma
I purchased this book to try and help me cope with childhood trauma. I really wanted to love this book and their are some key pieces that spark interest and make you think. This book talks about the kinds of trauma one can experience during childhood and how that can affect you in your adult life.I gave this book a 3 star because I appreciate how easy of a read it is and how the author spoke about his experiences as a child. As a reader I like that because I can connect to the author better. However, this book is missing some vital information on how to cope with a lot of those traumas, like maybe some exercises on how to move past "your past" would've been helpful for me personally. Therefore, In my opinion it fell short from the title "parent yourself again". I was looking for ways I can help my inner parent cope with the disappointments my inner child has had to face throughout life.I am on a journey of self development and I felt as though the book should've dove deeper into how to cope with unfortunate circumstances that happen in life. This book just kind of left me wanting more, it only barely scratched the surface with this topic.Edit: I finished the entire book and even though my opinion stays the same where the author should have included specific ways to cope with trauma. However, I must say the last 2 chapters of the book are beautifully written and in a nutshell the book just states you should love yourself. Give yourself the love that your parent didn't give you. Also, to learn how to cope with your parents and accept them for who they are and not to have any expectations for them as for they most likely will not change.

Short, to the point, extremely helpful and valuable
This book is definitely a catalyst to my transformation. It is through this book that I learned how to effectively feel difficult emotions before letting them go, instead of doing what I was always so good at doing, which was suppressing the same hurt feelings to avoid from having to actually deal with the pain. Thank you for teaching me why it’s necessary to parent myself, and how to. Thank you for teaching me how to let go!

Loved this so much I bought it for my dad!
Can't write highly enough of this book's heartfelt examination of what it means to love oneself better and bigger than one's parents. All thumbs up for this mighty book.

Really liked the book!
The book touches on some psychological aspects of our roles we play in the world. I wasn’t too surprised about learning of inner child and inner parent, as I’ve done some self exploration. But I think it will be extremely beneficial for someone who hasn’t heard of these terms before. This book takes something complicated and explains it in a simple language.I’d also say that this book would beneficial to read to understand romantic relationships better. All the concepts can be taken and replicated in romantic.

I recommend to read it slowly, a few pages at the time and combine it with meditation or mindfulness practise. It's written with love and simple beauty.Thank you for sharing your experience with me through this book. I feel more connected with my inner child again.

Great book
I really enjoyed the theory of an inner child and inner parent. I studied psychology myself, however, this really changed lots of things and gave me great tools to solve some things within me. Its a short book and very easy to get through. It gives tools and actions to take. Thanks!
