the code does not work
update: The book seems to cover a lot of ground in a relatively dense way, but unfortunately the code does not work. If the code of a programming language book does not work, there is not much point in spending time on it. I have reverted back to the official online Django tutorials, they are much more of an help. Don't underestimate them as I did once.PS: The code is available at the github rep of APress.

Useful for learning new things, but you'll need to debug code.
It's a pretty decent book if you are a bit more experienced with Django and would like to learn new things. I think this book tries to cover a lot, and it's not a bad thing as I think it gives exposure of what's out there. The main reason for my rating is because it bothers me a lot that some of the code for the tests don't work. You can troubleshoot them, but it will take a chunk of your time in progressing through the book if you decide to fix them. Whether you learn something from troubleshooting those issues or not depends, I think, on the reader's experience. Personally, while it's satisfying when you fix a bug, you'll have to refresh your understanding as you've taken your focus away - not good if you're trying to get an app out there. Also, this might just be me - but some of the bugs don't seem to be solvable. Even if I replace my code with the code from Github, I'd still get the same result. If someone can confirm or not, maybe that should be an issue that can be brought up on their repo?

Mostly useful
Good starter book. The channels aspect involves setting up a live chat framework for customer service type stuff. The app they walk you through becomes extremely bloated by 3/4 through.Makes a good template to reference certain aspects, completely useless as a production app.

Pretty good, but UX could be better
Great content, but code is formatted poorly. Text too big and takes up too much space. Honestly, all tech books should emulate O'reilly. They've got code on the paper page figured out.

Great for intermediate users
This is a great book. I'm fairly new to Django so I can't speak with absolute authority, however the author provides such breadth of the Django ecosystem that I'm certain he's saved me tens if not hundreds of hours of research.

Superb guide to take your Django skills to the next level
The book prioritizes highly practical approaches, and readers will be able to implement a working product by following all the steps. The author clearly has immense experience with Django and this shines through in the guidance. An excellent choice for intermediate/advanced developers who want to leverage the number one web framework for an increasingly ubiquitous language.

Clear and concise
This is my first review of any book ever.I have read many books about Django, but this one is clearly in its own category. If you want to grow from an intermediary to an advance usage of Django, you need this book in your stack.

Great insights, must read!
Easy read even if you're not 100% familiar with the topic. It really explains and shows all the features and potential of applying Django’s components to any e-commerce platform. Big applause to Mr. Marani for such an inspiring content.
