I have been through countless tubes of this gel. In fact I have it on auto ship. It is literally perfect. It has enough hold and humidity resistance to give me 4 to 5 days of frizz free curls as a single styler. Once the cast is scrunched out, my hair is shiny and still touchably soft without sacrificing hold. My only complaint- is I wish it came in a salon 32oz size 😀 I will continue to purchase over and over again. Tip for extra hold - I will apply Max Green Alchemy Styling Gel (softer hold) as a base layer and then top it with this Max Green Alchemy Sculpting Gel (harder Hold). Best results- apply on wet hair. Makes the product distribute nice and evenly and clump nicely.

For many years, I used Biosilk's Rock Hard Gelee as a hard-hold gel for my fine waves. I wanted a clean, vegan alternative, and found it in this MGA gel. While it's not quite as hard-holding as the Biosilk one, I love that it's vegan, clean, and still Curly-Girl-Method-approved. You only need a small amount, so one tube lasts me forever. The smell isn't too strong, and it plays nicely with other products you might have in your hair. I really love this!

Revision: First of all, I did get a refund and an apology for it not holding like the label suggests. However I no longer consider it to be a "dud." but upon continued use I've become happy with it's soft hold and appreciate that it doesn't turn my hair into a helmet-it does hold my hair neatly at my desk all day and looks like there's nothing in it. I also like that I can wet my hair and reset it in case it does get tussled. I also like the healthy ingredients. At first I hesitated buying it given the price, but those are some seriously beneficial and my dandruff and itching is much improved. However, the geranium and other oils, give off a strong smell that unfortunatel doesn't fade all day, so I put extra cologne on to mask it, since I prefer not to smell like an exotic entree. Finally, the tube has lasted-I'm about half way through it after I think it's been at least four months of using it 3 or 4 times a week. I plan to buy it again.

I wanted something clean and free of alcohol, sulfates, etc. and this worked out great. Very strong hold; a little goes a long way. It replaced my Aveda Confixor that I had used for YEARS. Highly recommended!

I love how this gel is not greasy, has a fresh citrus scent and is water based. It also contains organic and natural ingredients/oils and is good for your scalp. It does not provide a real stiff hold, if that’s your desire. However, I call this the utility of gels as you can use this everyday. And I’ve noticed that my hair stairs in tact when it’s hot and humid. Some complained about flakes and other issues. Everyone’s hair and scalp is different, but I did notice a huge difference (one I never noticed before) when I bought the MGA shampoo and conditioner. I do agree that healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. My hair is no longer dry and thirsty so take some advice and analyze what you wash and condition your hair with too, not just the styling products. I’m going to order the largest bottle they make for this gel as it’s a better value. Again, my hair is wavy, curly and thick, so if this worked for me, it should be ok for you. It’s not too keen on being shiny, so, you may have to use a spritz or hairspray for more shine, but I’m a guy and not too worried about that. I find myself using a moderate amount of gel each time I use it so don’t be surprised if this goes quick as it’s water based. The seller also has a website and you can purchase directly if you desire. I tried the smoothing balm the seller makes and it was great too, but this one works better for me and has a slightly firmer hold.

Bought it as a gift, here is the feedback I got: This product offers a great balance between firm control and cleanliness. It holds simple styles in place without feeling oily, plastic, or flaking in an unsightly manner. Since trying this product, I used one other clean gel product in a pinch. I was dissatisfied and purchased this product again before finishing the substitute. I am completely satisfied with this hair gel and do not plan on trying anything else to meet my styling needs.

I was in search of a hair gel that would not get flaky. I have very short, dark hair and gels often get flaky throughout the day. I bought this one because I read that it specifically does not. Rubish! This is worse than my generic drug store brand gel. I was so embarrassed when I looked in the mirror mid day. It looked like someone sprinkled white powder on my head. I gave up on the search and just don't use gel anymore. It's not worth it to have my hair styled the way I like it if it looks flaky.
