From a 3-star review: "when you tighten velcro band the lightest pressure pushes the binos setting and barrels apart." is it true?

I set up our Vortex Diamondback HD 10x42 binoculars on the Gosky Universal Tripod Mount for my wife. She set the focus for her use and I lightly strapped the binoculars. The binoculars are used for bird watching so she leaves them on the mount. She says the binoculars stay in focus and the barrels do not separate. I just adjusted for my focus while the binoculars are strapped and had no issues. Issues may come into play depending on the make and model of the binoculars.

How long are the Velcro straps?

The straps are 13 1/2" and elastic. I've use the mount for my 50-year-old 10X40 Bushnells and a far more recent set of Vortex 12X40 binoculars.

Will it mount to the top of a monopod? Unlike tripods, monopods just have a screw, not a camera adapter.

I believe the Gosky tripod mount will work on a monopod provided the monopod has a 1/4”-20 screw. The Gosky mount has a 1/4”-20 threaded female insert in the approximately 1” long stem of the mount. It should screw right down on the monopod.
