MCMCustom Audio 50-7724 L/R Stereo Audio Balun

exceeded expectations !

I used this product to run sound over ethernet. I was concerned about sound loss, but it works perfectly well.

I'm using this to extend line-level output from a phono preamp over shielded cat-6 cable to my whole-house amp. This balun does the job without introducing noise and without requiring additional wall warts or power supplies. The attached pigtail is a nice touch but the equivalent product with female RCA jacks instead is just as good; I am using both in my installation.

This unit did not work for me over a 150' run via CAT6 (using Leviton extreme6 punch-down RJ45 quickport jacks at either end). The CAT6 was tested using a standard CAT5/6 continuity tester to validate pin-out, used 568-A. I'm connecting the Zone2 preamp audio out from my Denon AVR-X2000 receiver to the RCA inputs from my whole home audio receiver. What I hear is very very low volume audio (proper audio, just too low to be usable) with a hum.From what I've read, this should have worked fine. I don't know if one of the 2 units I received is bad, or if just the MCM won't work at all, but MCM really doesn't provide much documentation or troubleshooting tips. MuxLabs equivalents say if those symptoms occur, one of the baluns is bad.
