Review: High Quality and Great Coffee - I’ve had this French press coffee maker for almost one year. I like it because it is stainless, sturdy, has clean lines and is easy to hand wash and maintain. It makes a great cup of coffee that is not bitter, even though I brew mine fairly strong. The 17oz. version is good for one large mug or two small – medium cups of coffee. They make a one liter (34oz.) and other sizes if you are serving more. For French press generally, one is supposed to use a slightly coarser grind than regular, store bought, but with this one you can add an extra filter for finer grinds, similar to expresso. I use ordinary ground coffee, usually a strong coffee like Sumatra. Just one of the supplied metal filters works fine to keep these grounds from getting through. I have had zero problems with wear and tear. Some tips on making it: They describe it as having a double wall construction, which is the same as a thermos. It seems light enough for that to be the case. Despite its good thermal properties, I nonetheless preheat the pot by pouring hot water into the empty carafe and letting it sit for a few minutes. Ultimately, this keeps your coffee warmer as your final product does not lose as much temperature by heat transfer to the metal container. (Remember, once you mix hot water into the grounds it has to sit for 5 minutes before you pour.) Once the carafe is heated for a few minutes, dump the water you heated it with and put in your coffee grounds. Slowly pour in your hot water for the coffee, leaving enough room for the thick lid and filter mechanism. Then turn the lid to lock it (arrow facing away from the spout) and slowly push down on the press. I usually take about 15 seconds to push it almost all the way down. I believe this allows the coffee to impart flavor without bitterness. Fifteen seconds seems like a long time when doing this. The results are the reward for a little patience. (After all, you would not be using a French press if you needed an automatic brewer while heating a Pop Tart for 10 seconds in your microwave as you run for the door.) Review: Delicious cup of coffee with the capacity to make many cups at once in a non-toxic system. - I love the high quality steel that this is made from. I was looking for a non-toxic option to make organic coffee in, and this is perfect. I am able to make several cups at once too, which is a big bonus because I've had smaller French presses that were one-cup capacity. Sometimes, it's nice to make two or three cups and this accommodates that perfectly. It keeps the coffee warm, also, if you want to leave it in the carafe, because it's insulated. I've left it for several hours and it kept my coffee nice and hot. The extra screens are great also, since eventually I will want to replace those. However, one lasts a very long time depending on how much you use it. I use mine 1 to 2 times daily. It's nice and sleek too, so I can leave it on the counter top without it looking unsightly. Most importantly, this makes the most delicious cup of coffee I've ever had! I will never go back to a drip maker. If you've never tried French press coffee, you don't know what you're missing.

**Q: How long does the carafe keep coffee hot? Like steaming hot?**
A: It does do an excellent job of keeping the resulting coffee warm but, you do not want to leave the coffee in the pot because it continues to brew and you will find that second cup of coffee bitter. Better to brew, serve a cup or two and pour the remaining brew in a stainless steel thermos (which has been preheated using hot water) for later consumption. We really like this French Press; it is our "go to" when we have the time to brew over our $2,300 Jura Impressa Automatic Coffee Machine... have had this for 8 years... great coffee but, not as good as a very good French Press like this.

**Q: Did it come with the extra screen? Thanks.**
A: They do wear out eventually. But you can search “French press filter screens” and buy more there are several that come up and this brand is one of them.

A: These are in fact manufactured in China according to Secura.

**Q: Can you make cold brew with this?**
A: I make cold brew with this French Press every morning. 
Grind my coffee beans, pour cold water in, put in the refrigerator and then wait 12 to 24 hours before pressing. 
It's a perfect way to make cold brew. 
The cold brew has a wonderful flavor, I think it tastes a little like chocolate. 
Not only does it taste great, I save so much money making it myself.

I have this French press and recently I bought one as a gift for my stepdaughter and she agrees it’s really good!! The flavor of the coffee is delicious and the quality of the French press is just great. I love the stainless steel so you’re not getting any toxins. Very easy to clean and the coffee comes out just right. It also keeps the coffee warm long enough to enjoy a second cup !!
