Soooo comfortable and no leaks!
If you want the semi-TMI, girl talk honest review on these, KEEP READING! Okay, these are an absolute game-changer, especially for those with a heavy flow. Let me start by saying, to use these comfortably you should be/should become very familiar with your anatomy and comfortable being able to reach all up in there (if you know what Iโm sayin). Inserting it is easy and comfortable, once it was in I truly couldnโt feel it was there at all! I was super pleased with this. This is my first day and I wore them up to 6 hours at a time - probably could have worn far longer because I had ZERO leaks. Now, removal is where things get a little trickier. For me, my vagina had pretty much eaten this thing (LOL) because it goes in pretty far, behind the public bone, and your muscles pretty much enclose around it. To take it out, you basically hook a finger in the rim and pull it out, but because it was so enclosed in there I prefer to fully relax the pelvic floor, and bear down/give a good push. After this, it was soooo easy and comfortable to pull right out. Disclaimer though, when you bear down/relax your pelvic floor like this, it empties into the toilet, and things get a little crime scene-esque on your finger iykyk. I imagine if you didnโt push first and just pulled it out it would be cleaner, but I just do what feels most comfy. If you are super squeamish with blood I gotta say, I wouldnโt recommend this. After my second try, it was already easy/routine. Overall, these are an amazing alternative to tampons and pads and so much better for your health! Iโm never going back! Soooo much more comfortable.

Works for the tilted cervix folks too! Needed to get the hang of it but is pretty life-changing
The first time after I inserted this, I felt like I was going to throw up. But I hung in there and I don't know if I got the hang of inserting it better over the next few times (probably somewhat), or if my sensitive body adjusted to the feeling of having something sitting there over the next few hours. I do likely have endometriosis (unconfirmed but that's coming from my gynaecologist and I have a family history of endo on my dad's side as well), so that may have contributed to the weird/pukey feeling. I was very on the fence about trying these as I wasn't sure if these would work for me due to my weird internal shape and other issues but I'm so happy to report that they did and I wanted to leave a review to help others with the same questions. I have a tilted cervix (anteverted uterus) as well as vaginismus and pelvic pain. I sometimes have trouble/pain inserting even a slender tampon, and tampons also make my cramps worse so I have been trying to get away from them (as well as disposable period products more generally for any environmental reasons). Plus, as most of my period is huge clots (at least for the first couple of days), tampons just do not work well for me and I feel that they actually make my bloating worse also. I actually felt like my cramps were not so severe with this product as they are sometimes with pads or tampons, but it could have just been the case where that cycle was not as bad. I had tried Bambody period underwear and loved it (highly recommend), but I was getting sick of the mess and having to change underwear several times per day on my heavy days. The period underwear is also reasonably practical while at home (which I was full-time during Covid anyway), but not so much when I go back to in-person engineering college. I had really wanted to try a menstrual cup for a while but was hesitant due to the high price points (particularly for the โspecialised fitโ options), and fear that they just wouldn't work for me. I liked that this was a lower-risk option financially (and I could offer the unused ones to a friend or donate them if they didn't work for me) so I decided to go for it with the idea that if this worked for me, maybe it would be a good stepping stone to try a "real" menstrual cup at some point (I'd been interested in the shape of the Ziggy Intima cup). I had also had read the review by JC re: using one disposable cup per cycle and liked that idea for both environmental and financial reasons, so I tried that and it worked very well for me (i.e., just use one as a regular menstrual cup for your entire cycle, rinsing as you are able, then throw it away at the end of your cycle). I actually *think* the โringโ part might be able to be recycled, so I was going to take either it apart and try that, or just wash the whole thing with soap and water and put it in the plastics bin as I believe it is all plastic. While this doesnโt help me get away from disposable period products 100%, it was something that actually worked well for me and my weird body and it is awesome to only have one disposable product per cycle as opposed to a bunch! A couple of notes for people with really tilted cervixes: The "cup" part may not expand based on your shape and therefore may not collect as much fluid as reported or last quite as long with no emptying. I tried inserting a few different ways but I could never get the pouch to expand for me. For me that wasnโt really a huge issue though, as on my heavy days I am constantly running to the bathroom anyway so I can just โbear downโ a little to empty the excess every few hours. I also never had any issues with it leaking overnight, although I would definitely use a backup method to be safe. A couple of notes for people with vaginismus/tight perineal muscles: If you canโt insert a tampon at all, this product might not work for you, but it also might. I still found it slightly painful to insert, but less so than a tampon and I think it slides a little easier, particularly if you can get the hang of it. It does look huge, but it squishes up quite nicely. If you are really on the fence, for most people $14 is a worthwhile risk to take so I would say just try it and if it doesnโt work, you probably didnโt lose too much by trying. Also, consider trying pelvic PT if you havenโt as it might help with some of your pelvic floor symptoms (including vaginismus, constantly feeling like you need to pee, or trouble pooping).

Softdisc-are they for you?
I have only tried this product for one menstrual cycle. I will update this review accordinglh when I have used it for more cycles. The pros: 1) Easy-to-follow instructions for insertion, including a diagram and website for further reference. 2) This is a very affordable product for those who want to try something other than pads or tampons. You can make that leap of faith and get better acquainted with your anatomy without spending over $40 out the gate. 3) Comfortable- once the Softdisc is properly inserted, you can't feel it at all. I know, it's hard to believe when you see how big it is. But I literally had to remind myself to take it out in 12 hours because I'd forget I had it in. That was pretty awesome. 4) Low maintenance- After 12 hours, you slide the old disc out and put in a new one. No washing or rinsing of the disc required. This can come in handy if you are away from home for a good while, and don't want to bother with washing/emptying a menstrual cup in a public restroom. 5) The Softdisc can be worn during sex. The cons: 1) Removal can be somewhat messy. You have to take care to slide out the Softdisc horizontally, or things will get bloody in a hurry. Some blood on your fingers will be inevitable. To avoid this, remove the disc with nitrile gloves. They are latex-free, and are very good to use when you need a firm grip. 2) Being disposable, these are not as eco-friendly as menstrual cups. Also, while there's an upfront cost-savings with Softdiscs over the cups, it will be cancelled out by the need to reorder them repeatedly. Keep this in mind when making your decision. 3) Like menstrual cups, there is a bit of a learning curve with using the Softdisc. This is at least partially due to the cervix. Your cervix may shift up or down throughout your menstrual cycl. This shifting can slightly alter the placement of the Softdisc and cause some minor leakage. I would recommend wearing a pantiliner, period panties or cloth pads as back up until you have the placement down pat. That said, leakage for me was minor even on my heaviest days. For me, the pros outweighed the cons. Though I will be transitioning to menstrual cups long-term, I feel the Softdiscs are worth keeping in my arsenal. They are low-maintenance, and allow me to be intimate with my boyfriend without much worry. Everyone's vagina is different; what worked for mine may not work for yours. But for the price, they are certainly worth a try.

The next generation feminine hygiene product!
I was pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this product. Admittedly, I was nervous and scared to try these but I've read so much about them and I have a very busy schedule that doesn't allow me to use the bathroom often enough during my period to change a tampon (and this product works for up to 12 hours without risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome!). This review will be 100% transparent, raw, and honest so if you are squeamish... look away now. This review will talk openly about the normal, natural, and beautiful female body and the process of making menstruation more comfortable. Firstly, insertion can be confusing and messy, mostly in the beginning. I watched videos on YouTube to help me but, the truth is, you won't really know what you're doing unless you really know your body and are comfortable with it. The videos explained how to insert it, they talked about your cervix, your tailbone, your pubic bone... but where are all of those things inside my body?!? I didn't know!! I highly recommend figuring that out ahead of time if you aren't already aware. Remember: your body is natural, there's nothing to be ashamed of, and it can be empowering to learn and explore your own body. Secondly, every woman is different and every woman's body is different. Your body may change throughout time too. If you have given birth vaginally and/or you have a pelvic floor problem and/or if you have had a prolapse, this will also impact insertion and how the product interacts inside your body. For me, I have to be very careful because of my pelvic floor difficulties - if I cough hard or sneeze hard and I have not physically prepared myself for it, this product can become dislodged from my pubic bone, causing a leakage. If you have not given birth vaginally and do not have any physical problems, you may find that your pubic bone is more pronounced inside your vagina, thus making the product easier for you to use. I was surprised that the product wasn't detectable while in use. It felt as though I wasn't wearing anything! I experienced zero physical discomfort during insertion, removal, or while wearing it. The only discomfort I felt was emotional awkwardness as I tried to figure out how to use it. I do wish that the box came with better instructions but, as stated previously, YouTube is great for that! A few more words of advice: I highly recommend learning about your body before trying this product. Give yourself time and be patient with yourself. Remember that your body is normal, natural, and beautiful. I also can't stress it enough: watch How-To videos. If you will be using public restrooms often while wearing this product, I recommend bringing wet wipes with you. Why? Because it takes a bit of finesse and practice to remove the product without getting blood on your finger(s). Public bathrooms have papery thin toilet paper that will just further frustrate you. If you have a wet wipe, you can easily clean your hand and move on with your life. Once you become at expert at using this product, you may find that you have no need for wet wipes but, as a mother, I feel compelled to nurture all of you by advising that it's better to have the wet wipes and not need them than to not have them and need them. These are certainly the next generation menstruation product! Only a few decades ago, women had to wear belts to hold a giant wingless pad in place. Now we have this product and it's great!

About these... definitely a love/hate relationship
Soooo... I bought these as a 43 year old woman whoโs praying to go through menopause any day. (Hey... my sister and mom were both done by my age... it could happen! ๐ค๐ป) I didnโt buy these to try to get pregnant, and I didnโt buy these to try to have sex while Iโm menstruating. I strictly bought these to make my period bearable. The older I get, the heavier it gets. ๐ฃ The pros: I read you should practice before you actually NEED them. Hereโs the deal... I ignore my cycle until it creeps up and bites me in the @ss unexpectedly. Thatโs just how I like it. But, itโs coming more frequent and angrier than ever before. All that to say, I hope every time is my last, so I didnโt ever practice with these guys because Iโm in a state of denial that this shenanigans is still happening to me. (My kids are 18,19, & 19... I literally have no use for Aunt Flo anymore. Iโm OVER it. These kids are... plenty to deal with.) Annnnyway... I didnโt practice, and yet I managed to get it placed properly the first go around (and every time after that) with no issues whatsoever. None. And, Iโm told Iโm โtiltedโ... whatever that means. Sure, the first time I was definitely checking on the hour every hour that nothing was going awry, and sure enough, nothing went awry. Hallelujah! That would have been a mess. All that to say, insertion for me was easy peasy, and it undoubtedly worked like a charm. After the initial paranoia that thereโs no way I could have gotten it right on my first try, there was truly no worries. It collected all the things for hours on end, and there were no leaks. Yeehaw! Those first 10 hours were bliss. 10 hours and 1 minute after insertion, all the things went to h*ll. The cons: Iโm not sure how you pull something down and out and still manage to keep it level. ??? Honestly, Iโm not laying on the bed or the bathroom floor for this. Iโm just not that person. Itโs coming out over the toilet, or Iโm not interested. Whatever. I digress. I guess what Iโm trying to get at without being too terribly descriptive is that removing it is no freaking fun. Somehow, I feel like it is still suctioned to something up in there, and, as mentioned, pulling it out level is not realistic. Thus, the INSANE mess. ๐ I was NOT prepared the first time. Like... at ALL. I kinda just sat there and looked at my hand and looked at this device and thought, โwhat the heck do I do now???โ The subsequent times I was more prepared, but it was no less messy. Geez Louise. The other con that I didnโt read about when I overthought and overanalyzed this $10 purchase for 8 days straight was that my lady business is like... raw from inserting and removing this thing for a couple days. Yes, it lasts for hours, so the insertion/removal isnโt happening all that often, but I guess my biz isnโt used to this fairly large plastic ring OR my finger(s) being shoved up there even twice in 24 hours. Thereโs a general level of discomfort on the exterior side of things after just 2-3 days use. I donโt know. Maybe Iโm doing something wrong. The down-low: yep... it works as advertised and is incredibly easy to get in place. They just donโt advertise much about the removal blood bath, nor do they mention that you could get sore/raw from all the activity down there. Lol. (And, I actually do have a husband with a fairly active sex life. Maybe itโs muscle memory? I donโt know.) What Iโm trying to say is that it will do as advertised, but thereโs a couple things that arenโt advertised. Take that for what itโs worth. If you donโt want to take a shower each and every time you need to change this thing, and if youโre not keen on true crime scenes on your hands, this might not be for you. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ My plan: because it works as advertised, I def plan to use these when Iโm traveling long distances and convenience store bathrooms arenโt my jam. I would also use this at night or... when Iโm on a boat for a long summer day?? (I donโt know... think about when changing a tampon would be incredibly inconvenient for several hours.) Otherwise, though, I guess I wonโt be cancelling that Amazon subscription to my economy size box of tampons any time soon. To all the ladies praying for menopause as your period laughs in your face, I hope this helps! Iโd probably say to give it a whirl... you never know. Iโve read you can perfect the removal process after a few cycles, so Iโm gonna keep trying. Maybe Iโll report back in a couple months. Maybe. Or maybe my prayers will be answered, and Iโll be done, done, DONE in a couple months! Only time will tell!

Honest Review - from a mom who used tampons, cups and discs
Iโve been meaning to review this product since the very first time I used them. I kept forgetting but I realized I needed to make this review a priority- especially to give input for those of you who are on the fence. Let me start - I have a 15yo and a 4yo. I had a tubal ligation done after my last child was born. My periods have been insane since then. You know the bleeding you have after giving birth - honestly thatโs how my periods have been ever since. Prior to having my last child (I was 30 when I had her), my periods had always been light and short. I was super lucky. I had my daughter and my periods have been so heavy ever since. When I say I soak through a super plus tampon in an hour or two on my heaviest days, I mean it. I was not only going through so many tampons, but I was having to wear super absorbent diapers.. I mean pads to catch what leaked because usually 4 out of 7 days that I menstruate, itโs heavy. Not just blood but clots. Itโs horrible. Honestly, I consider getting an IUD not to prevent pregnancy, but possibly to lighten my periods because itโs ridiculous. Anyways, about two years ago I started seeing people recommend menstrual cups. I decided to see what the hype was about. They definitely took some trail and error - and even a trip to the urgent care to have one removed that somehow slid sideways and suctioned sideways that made it impossible for me to remove. But even after that, I still used them regularly because they did make it possible to go more than an hour or two without stressing about leaking. On my heaviest days, I was probably going about 4/5hours without having to remove the cup. I was actually happy with that. But even after over a year of using them, sometimes I still had issues with getting the placement correct. I do have a tilted cervix if that makes a difference. Anyways, several months ago I started seeing info regarding these โmenstrual discsโ that was of course marketed safe and mess free to use during sex. Well Iโm not going to lie, that wasnโt the part that intrigued me. The part that made me interested was the fact that it was a flat disc and if it allowed a penis to enter your vagina without issues, I thought maybe I could finally stop using pads and panty liners as back up and use a light tampon instead. There were two brands at the time this brand and another. I went with this brand because it was cheaper and had two more discs included. In my mind I was thinking about how Iโm usually menstruating for 7 days and these say they can work up to 12 hours - so I am thinking these would get me through my heaviest days at least, even if Iโm having to remove way before 12 hours. So I ordered them and they arrived. When I first opened one, I did get a little shocked by the size. I mean Iโve had two kids but the size was intimidating. However, theyโre flexible and when you squeeze it together to insert, itโs not bad at all. There is a time here and there that it may hurt just a tiny bit inserting because the length when squeezed together is quite long but once itโs in, it is so easy to position in place. You just take your finger and push the lip thatโs closest to the front of your vagina until it kind of hooks behind your pelvic bone. Reading the instructions didnโt make sense until I actually inserted it and felt my pelvic bone and realized what they were talking about. But it slides right behind there and once itโs there I feel absolutely nothing. It is amazing. And let me say that even on my heaviest day, Iโm probably able to keep it in for about 8-10 hours without leaking. I donโt even use a backup tampon like I originally bought these for because itโs not even needed. These have completely changed my life. I am such an active person and am always doing outdoor things, so to be able to go swimming or hiking etc and not have to stress or cancel because of my period is awesome and game changing. I have yet to have sex with one but honestly, I donโt think I would unless I just put a new one in. The only issue I have occasionally is if I have one in and I am using the bathroom and push down, once in a while it break the seal and everything inside comes pouring out. So I usually just remove it before going and insert a new one when finished. When you remove it, all you have to do is put your finger on the lip and push down like your using the bathroom and pull it forward and it comes right out. I usually pull mine out with my right hand while holding a wad of toilet paper in my left hand, dump the contents into the toilet once I have it out and then slowly place it on the toilet paper, wrap it and toss in the trash. I know this is a lot of TMI but I wanted to be honest and share my experience. I will never use a tampon again. I will never use a cup again unless I happen to run out of these and am waiting for an order to come in. And honestly I never have to wear pads as back up either. If youโre debating - just do it. You wonโt regret it. I also included photos of how much liquid these discs can hold compared to a cup. Itโs triple the amount. That means if your cup is only getting you through 4 hours, this should get you through 12. Again, they seriously changed my life by allowing me that bit of freedom during the week Iโm on my period every month that I never could have before.

Great!
I have menorrhagia, extreme bleeding, which is normally only barely helped by the biggest period cups on the market and pads the size of an adult diaper. Menstrual discs are by far the best brakes I have come across, they significantly slow down things so I can get to the bathroom in time in the mornings and not cause a flood during a sneeze. The first 2 days of my cycle I always always have to wear night time pads in addition to absolutely anything I put 'up there' because it will definitely leak, but that's a me-problem and not a product-problem. On day 3++ they are enough on their own so I can stop wearing pads. (I manually fully empty when on toilet on day 3 to avoid leakage) Love that they partially empty themselves when I go toilet so I don't have to empty manually every time, like I would have to do with a suction reliant device like a cup. I have used a different brand of disposable discs before and really loved those too, the only real difference would be that these have a slightly softer ring so I don't notice ANY discomfort on my bladder or urinary tract. I find them easy to both insert and take out, just hook a finger on the ring in the front and pull out. Compared to a tampon these things are a godsend; not once have I felt the occasional grueling pain of pulling an xxl tampon out, and not ever have I been worried about toxic shock or been grossed out about where that moist string has drifted off to. I wouldn't use a tampon again if I was paid to do so. These discs aren't exactly cheap, but I make a box last about a year with only using one disc per period, so I get a lot of value out of one pack. I have previously had a reusable disc that worked just as well, only issue was that I really didn't feel like I managed to get it properly cleaned between uses so it got discoloured, and I didn't want to carry it around in my bag as it was in a fairly large bright silicone case. The disposable one I can keep in my bag as they are quite small and don't really stand out. Highly recommend and will definitely be a repeat customer.
