Just needs a longer, flatter lead wire
Big problem is the short outdoor lead wire. I've owned a few other indoor/outdoor thermometers, and they all have many times longer leads, which makes it infinitely more convenient to route around a door or window, up to a shady overhang where direct sunlight won't completely ruin temperature readings. You can probably cut it and splice two nice long wires in there, without trouble, but I'd prefer not to. The included wire is also thick and round, instead of wide and flat, so you'll have a tougher time closing a window around it, if that's how you wish to route it. But if you change out the lead with your own wire, you can change that.Otherwise, it's a nice enough unit. It'll hang on a nail on the wall, switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit, show high/low with a button-press, and the memory is easily reset. it looks fine, and the price is great. It's a bit top-heavy on a counter, and the stand probably won't hold up to too much abuse, but it's okay, not terrible by any means.Beware the limited range of the hygrometer, too... Specs on this page say it can't measure relative humidity below 25%, but mine has reported as low as 10%, and seems accurate.

Design could be improved
It's working, but do not attach it to the glass of an outside window, because it will register an incorrect indoor temperature in winter, even if the storm window is closed (I think the indoor sensor is at the rear of the unit). Maybe attach it to the wood window frame?

False advertising. This text was copied directly from the ad, "One cable with probe for feeling the outdoor temperature and humidity." The probe does NOT have the hygrometer. Rather, the hygrometer is inside the display unit.

It was exactly what I was looking for and it was much less expensive than other ones I had looked at in other stores.
