When it finally died, I replaced it with one just like it bought here on Amazon. That was about three years ago and it is working fine. Easy install and set up. I think I had to call for a program sequence once the controller was mounted, but that was easy to do also. My impression is that the 40,000 gallon rated model doesn't have to work as often or as hard on a smaller pool, and therefore lasts longer. So, it costs a little more up front to buy, but you save money because it lasts years longer. And, because it doesn't have to be on as many hours a day, it uses less electricity than the smaller units. So, that is another savings. Just my opinion, and my experience. No actual testing was done. Good luck. Imagine my surprise! I already ordered a Pentair unit and regret that decision - had I known sooner, I would have stayed Hayward. Again, thank you for the surprise and delight and standing by your product! There will be other opportunities for me to use Hayward and this means a lot. Lasted 10 months, now throwing a PCB error and a resistor on the PCB is cooked. It had previously worked well. I still had an old one which had a corroded RJ11 jack. Now I am using that on a timer and that one was 10 years old.
