The material is more likened to a jersey fabric than cotton and what looks like embroidery on the front is definitely not embroidery. I am 5’6” and am a size 16. I ordered an XXL as I wanted it to be on the big side - flowing with plenty of room. This was somewhat tight and massively long. Needless to say, I have returned the item. I did indeed read lots of glowing reviews before ordering where people had ordered this kaftan in different colours, but maybe I am somewhat fussy. When I looked in the mirror, I just saw someone who looked as if they were wearing a tight and rather long, unflattering nightie. I wouldn’t consider it as a kaftan at all. The fabric feels like a good cotton jersey against your skin which is pleasant. It has POCKETS. The stitching around the neckline and sleeves is neatly executed. It has POCKETS. I found it was fantastic at regulating my physical temperature on very hot days as well as over cast ones. It has POCKETS. My cat obviously likes it too. He doesn't care that it has POCKETS. I'm totally getting another one. I'm 5'2" and around a size 14 and although it's longer than ankle length it's not prohibitively long.
