Looking for a strong holding gel? This is it.
I have always had a lot of wispy hairs around my hairline that annoy me. I have very fine hair, and have several fans going at all times in my work space, and the feeling of those little hairs tickling and tickling my face drives me crazy. I’ve been looking for a strong hold gel that I can just put on the stray hairs in the morning, and then forget about it. I want a gel I can rely on to hold all day- and then some. I am old enough to remember the incredibly strong hold styling products we had in the 80s we used to spike up or hold up the masses of volume that we strove to get into our hair. I remember I.C.E. Gel by Joico had a really strong hold, as well as that teal blue gel KMS made, or the spray gels like Spritz Forte by Sebastian (I still remember its sweet, alcohol smell) that faithfully kept your hair in place through a long night of dancing, and through what came after. I can’t find any of those old reliable products any longer. Is it that one or more of the ingredients in those oldies but goodies is now possibly banned? Or, it could just be that nowadays, not as many people want to put that kind of 80s gravity-defying volume in their hair. I tried a few big box store gels, like Gorilla gel, whose holding agent-heavy ingredient list looked promising in terms of delivering hold, and a few other gels that claimed to give a “super strong hold.” None of the products I tried held the little wispies beyond an hour or so, and I ended up returning them all. I found the Got2 Be gel in the yellow tube to have an adequately powerful hold, but the smell and texture of the product reminded me too much of Elmer’s glue. It just wasn’t pleasant to use. (Their hairspray is amazing, though.) I read through the reviews submitted for supposedly stronger holding gels here on Amazon, and this one caught my eye. Many reviewers (thanks, guys!) mentioned decently strong hold. I decided to try the smaller tube of it, and if it didn’t work, I would give it to a friend. It arrived. I sprayed some water around my hairline, and brushed the hair back. I dispensed about a dime size of the Hard Holding Gel into my palm and distributed it to my other palm, and then applied the product to my hair line. The Gel is a fairly viscous blue gel, on the thicker side, but not annoyingly so. It has a light, fresh neutral scent that is barely detectable. It’s formula reminded me of the not-strong holding Gorilla gel, so I decided to add more product to my hairline, as I wanted to make sure I had enough to feel what it was like, and also to make sure those annoying hairs were finally tamed. It was hot and dry today, so the gel dried quickly. And- I was transported back to those no-nonsense hair gels of the 1980s. This stuff has true holding power. In fact, by accident, I had put way too much in my hair, and when I run my hands over where the dried gel is, it does feel crunchy. But weirdly- it doesn’t feel not right to me. I guess it’s because I don’t intend to brush out my hair later, or perhaps that I am used to products that hold like this from using them back in the day. I just want my hair to stay put, for as long as possible. And I can tell that this Hard Holding Gel is going to deliver. I tried brushing through part of my gelled hairline so I could report what that was like. The gel brushed out clean, without any flaking, and no crunchy feeling remained. Though I really over-applied the product, I can’t feel it on my hair, unless I touch it. I mean- there’s no weird extra stiffness or feeling of a product’s presence on my hair, as with the Got 2 Be gel. My hair is, finally, just doing what I want it to be doing. This smaller sized tube is going to last me a long time, because I know now that a much smaller amount than I initially applied will be powerful enough to do the job. This gel re-activates easily with a bit of water, too. And it rinses out clean. Anyone looking for a powerfully holding hair product that will allow you to spike or slick back your hair or otherwise have it defy gravity, and have it hold ALL DAY, should definitely check out this product. This stuff is the real deal. Thinking back again to the hairstyles of the 80s, I bet this gel would even be powerful enough to hold up one of the big Mohawks a few of my buddies sported. And to do that takes some no-nonsense, powerful holding hair gel. Really glad my search is over for the ideal, dependable go-to styling product. Highly recommended!

Strong hold gel with no flakes
Bought this for my boyfriend who uses hair gel everyday. He used a different gel before but complained that the formula had changed and wasn't as strong. After doing a little research I found this gel. I bought it for him to try out. He loves it and says it's exactly what he was looking for. He has very short hair and uses about a quarter size everyday out of the shower. It only lasted him about a month and a half but maybe he uses more than he needs. It doesn't flake or leave any residue on pillows or clothes that I've noticed. He just ran out and got some more. If you're looking for a strong hold gel that doesn't budge and leaves no flakes, this is it. Price is worth it.

Used this stuff for years.
I can't tell you how long I've used this stuff. The hold is incredible. Maintains a shiny wet look. Will hold up to some rain, dampness, and sweet. I have no desire to try any other.

Are you gelin?
This is hands down the best hair gel product I've ever used. I have been using gel since I was in elementary school, so I know a thing or two about hair gel. I've used many different products, but after finding this a couple years back, I've never consistently used anything else. A couple times here or there at a friend's or stylist's suggestion I have tried different products, all which had their pros and cons. But I've always ended up making my way back to this gel. Here's why: 1. It does what it says. It is super strong and holds your hair. My hair is a bit stubborn and doesn't like to stay up unless the product has a strong hold. Many other products claim a strong hold, but this is one of the few that actually holds up their end of the bargain. Literally. 2. It looks/smells good. Looks aren't really important because at the end of the day it all looks the same on your hair, but the cool blue look doesn't hurt. Also, it smells good. And that is important. I've used other products in the past that either smelled bad as soon as it's in your hand, or smelled good at first, but smelled weird or chemical-ly after I put it in my hair. This isn't the cheapest gel out there. But it's not the most expensive, either. And generally, it's not good to use the cheapest product out there for anything. You wouldn't go to the cheapest restaurant every day or change your car's oil with the cheapest motor oil, would you? Same concept here. In a pinch once I needed gel so I bought a cheap bottle of LA Looks gel at a Target (same brand that I used in jr. high school) and it was terrible. The gel was a 'super strong hold' but felt watery in my hands, like hand sanitizer. It didn't do the job, and accomplished little more than making my hair look wet. Anyways, don't let the price scare you away. This is the best gel you'll ever use, hands down.

This is the stuff
This is the best hair gel you’ll ever use. This is a go to staples for my son’s and my husband. It does not leave any residue any white flakes in your hair after you’ve used it gives you the greatest hold ever.

The GOAT of Gels
I usually use gel or mousse in my curls and I honestly haven’t used a gel in over a year. I purchased this bottle in February of 2025 and it’s just BARELY gone, now. My only complaint is the packaging. It doesn’t suck up all of the product and this stuff is so good I completely mangled the bottle to get the rest of my fix out of the thing! If I style right out of the shower and diffuse, I get at least three good days out of the style before I have to re-style. And it’s not greasy! Meaning I get to just wet my hair slightly to reactivate the product and I’m good for another two days. Couldn’t get that out of a mousse if I tried. It’s not super crunchy, but still leaves a cast indicative of good hold. Just amazing. Please change the packaging if possible! This product is so good I hate to let it go to waste. My curls look BAD. ASS. If you want some hot girl curls, get you this gel. It’s fantastic.

Klebt und ist teuer
Ich habe das Haargel von Sexy Hair jahrelang benutzt. Aber Vorsicht: Es klebt: Man kann es nicht gut auskämmen und es ist m.M. nach nach zu teuer
