Gibraltar 6709 Pro Double Braced Boom Cymbal Stand

This is a well-made boom stand that is best used with heavy cymbals, like a 22" ride or mounting your upper tom on it. For smaller crash cymbals, it's probably overkill. It is heavy! That's my chief complaint, just a lot of weight to lug around. It has memory locks, and is very adjustable, no issues there. All in all a great stand.

I have five of these bought at one time as a "set" before using them. Great stands but overkill to hold just a cymbal. Been playing 60 years and don't know why any pro level player (not a beginner or out of control basher) would need stands this heavy duty to hold only a cymbal. Will easily hold an additional tom or toms or other attachments. Tubes are 1-1/8", 1" and 3/4". Tilter is gear-less with locking tension rod. Everything will lock down tight with heavy memory locks. I switched from wing nuts to rods on my memory locks, added DW-like tightening handles to my tilters and DW 9000 feet I had but you need alternate parts to make these changes. Wanted them to better match my other DW hardware. If you gig, they are really heavy to haul around.

Occasionally bring in an 18” dark crash Or heavy pang about a foot above the rim on the floor Tom side. Couldn’t justify purchasing another DW stand to match the rest of my hardware. Gibraltar is my preference that is just a minor step down from the majors.

This is a solid, heavy stand with lots of adjustments that stay where you put them. I have the boom at nearly full extension with a heavy 22" ride on this thing, and I can bash it mercilessly with no fear of the stand tipping over.

Excellent made product. Very sturdy. Very nice. I purchased this to use in a completely different way and not as a cymbal stand but I’m sure it’s great for that also.

Probably the best drum hardware there is. Gibraltar also make all the hardware for one of the major drum manufacturers ( maybe Sonor - not sure). they are heavy and very stable with great lock screws and memory locks so you can set the stands always to the same height. However, because of their chunkiness they are also pretty heavy. if you had 4 cymbal stands and hi-hat in one case likely you wouldn't be able to lift it, so two fittings cases required for all the kit hardware. Still they are worth it, the chrome quality is outstanding. Altogether they ooze professional quality.
