Great alternative for those starting out with oil paints!
So far these have worked out very well for me. I’m still working on this first painting, but I will share it here. I use meat packing paper as my palette. It’s waterproof, so it works out well and makes for easy clean up. I painted the first layer in acrylic and it was fully dry. When squeezing out the paint, oil comes out first, but then highly pigmented color comes out. It’s very mixable, not only with water, but with all the other paint colors. It would be great to have two tubes of titanium white in the set. You only need a very small amount of paint, so this set will last a while for smaller painting projects. There is a slight odor. I used Dawn dishwashing liquid and water to clean my paint brushes. That may be a bit harsh over the long term. The paint was still drying when I took a break from working on this painting. I will be going back to it and adding and revising. I’ve only used traditional oil paints once before. This seems like an excellent alternative. Happy Painting!

Fantastic set of beginner friendly oil paints in a nearly complete range of colors
These paints behave like traditional oil paints and are nearly as pigmented as the artist's grade traditional oil paints by W&N. They definitely seem more pigmented than the Winton grade. There's an issue with extra oil being in some tubes, and some tubes not being 100% filled upon arrival, but none were tampered with, it just seems to be filling issues. Still, the paints perform wonderfully and this set is great for beginners. The tubes are SMALL, less than 1/3 of what a normal small tube contains. The color selection is very good; you get warm and cool versions of green, blue and red, but only one real yellow as the warm yellow is very orange heavy (cad yellow hue). You will run out of white before all the rest for sure. The earth and skin tones are rich but the selection is not full so keep that in mind if you want to do portraiture. Color selection is mostly missing Burnt Umber, Van Dyke Brown, Sap Green, Prussian Blue, Mars Black, and a Warm Yellow like Winsor Yellow but you've got everything else you'll ever need. The paints dry a significant amount of time faster than standard oil paints, most are touch dry within 36hrs. The paints are a bit stiff so always work lean to fat; add in turpentine or water-mixable solvent (or water) and gradually add more water mixable medium (I use fast drying medium) as you add more layers to the painting. Washing up is a breeze, but if you use solvent, as you should be, the paints will leave behind some sludgy residue inside the deep bristles of the brushes which can harden and bind the bristles if you don't wash it out so you'll need Masters Brush Soap to fully wash them out at the end of every session since these paints will not fully dissolve into solvents like traditional oil paints do. Ultimately if you want to avoid toxic solvents, want water-washable paints, and want something with the rich chroma and varied hues of oil paints but with faster drying and less expense, give these paints a try! P.s. the French Ultramarine is particularly good. So good that I ordered a 200ml tube to keep on hand because it is better than most brands artist grade versions at a tiny fraction of the cost. It's not as good as W&N artist grade french ultramarine, but it's literally less than 1/3 the cost.

Great pigments and easy cleanup
The pigments are very vibrant and the consistency is creamy. They mix perfectly with water, making cleaning much easier without needing solvents. Great quality paints.

Jury still out...
I have been painting in oils for 40+ years. I guess you could say I'm a professional, as I've sold so many painting and especially pet portraits. sadlyI have became allergic to traditional oils, so I decided to try these. They are a little less allergy- triggering than traditional oils. Some people buy these for ease of cleaning their brushes in solvent. That is totally unnecessary! I never use solvents on my brushes. I just wipe the paint off with a paper towel, then pthen place a small amount of dawn dish detergent in my gloved palm, rub them around,,,,,then rinses well. With that said, I've just completed one small painting with the Artisan paints. They certainly take some getting used to! I was careful not to over-dilute them with water to avoid them acting like water colors or acrylic paints. I plan to use walnut oil in my next painting instead of water. Bottom line: they didn't help my runny nose and watery eyes very much (perhaps somewhat?). They did seem to dry faster. I also completed an old painting I had given up on, and they covered well. The assortment is odd, and the names of the paints are different (no ultramarine blue), and far too many reds. I'll update as I experiment....

No toxic odor and very beginner friendly!
I’ve been a painter for a long time, but always very intimidated by oil paints. My favorite artist said she used these, so I immediately purchased to try them out! OBSESSED. The colors are so rich and opaque. They mix well and go on smoothly and thick if you’d like. Doesn’t take nearly as long to dry as regular oils, and there’s no odor! I love being able to blend on the canvas, it makes painting skin especially so much smoother and realistic.

It's great for my purposes and I highly recommend them
I am learning to oil paint and have chosen this line of paint intentionally. I am physically disabled and at times can be very messy with my painting. I'm not sure my wife giggling in the other room would agree with at times and she would probably add a few other adjectives. That is for a different discussion. LOL My concerns with oil painting was the practicality and cleanup. So far, in three months of painting I have been incredibly happy with this brand. Now, I do not have a lot of other brands to compare it to. I can really only compare Windsor and newtons water mixable and traditional oil paints. So far, the only difference I have discovered between the two involved cleanup and readily available colors. Let's discuss cleanup first. With warm soap and water, my brushes come perfectly clean. My hands, face, table, and any other thing that I accidentally touch has all come by gently rubbing a non-alcohol baby wipe, soap and water, or even a damp rag. During my painting sessions, I use a two compartment brush clean up container. This has allowed me to thoroughly clean my brush during the session without contaminating other colors on my palate or canvas. This is a great line of paints for my needs or really anyone looking for alternative ways to clean up without using harsh solvents on your hands or other items in your painting area. Finding colors and mixing. I do not have a lot of experience with mixing. So more experienced painters may have achieved better results than I have. First, as these are not as widely accepted as traditional oil paints, there are not as many colors readily available. I have also found it a little difficult to achieve the same colors with these as I have seen during tutorials or during my weekly class. My Bob Ross certified instructor with 40+ Years of painting and teaching experience has also had difficulty with mixing the colors to match those we are using in class. If you do not need an exact match, I believe this can be worked around. However, each artist must decide that part for themselves. My overall impression, is a great one. I may experiment with other water-soluble paints just to know if there is a difference but not because I am disappointed with this brand. I have also learned that you can make traditional oil paints a part of your painting by using limited amounts which will make them water-soluble also. This will solve my limited color range vs. traditional oils. Only time will tell, how they will hold up for me but so far, all is great!
