Effective, Pleasant-Smelling
What I Like: Strong Adhesive Removal: This citrus-based formula does a great job dissolving tape, label, and sticker residue. MacToolus +1 Gentle on Many Surfaces: According to 3M, it “cleans gently … without damaging the surface underneath in most cases.” 3M +1 No Filmy Residue: After use, you can wipe it off with a shop towel and it doesn’t leave behind a greasy or hazy film. Ameripac Citrus Scent: The cleaner has a pleasant citrus smell instead of harsh chemical fumes, which makes it more pleasant to work with. Hathaway Paper Safer Solvent: It’s based on citrus oil, not chlorinated or heavy petroleum solvents, which is a plus for reducing harsh chemical exposure. 3M +1 Multi-Material Use: Useful for a variety of industrial and household materials — metals, glass, and more. 3M Multimedia Things to Be Careful About: Not Great for Certain Plastics: 3M warns that it may not be safe for some plastics — it “may craze” plastic surfaces. PackSmart, Inc. Some users echo this concern: “Does it harm plastics … the product is use says no to plastics …” Reddit Flammable: As with many aerosol cleaners, the product is flammable, so you need to use it in a well-ventilated area and avoid ignition sources. Toolup Regulatory Restrictions: Not available for sale in some states due to VOC or other regulatory concerns. JAM Industrial Supply, LLC Chemical Handling: The SDS indicates it contains a high percentage of citrus extract, plus propane, so safety gear (gloves, ventilation) is recommended. 3M CDMS Disposal Considerations: Must be disposed of via approved hazardous waste methods, not just tossed in regular trash. 3M CDMS Real-World Feedback: Some detailers on Reddit have had mixed results: “That chemical … leaves spots vs onto a rag … If it ends up fading … test in small area first.” Reddit Others have reported damage when using on painted or plastic surfaces: “ABS plastic … that chemical eats it … That’s never going back …” Reddit Alternate Products to Consider: If you’re looking for similar performance or want to try something gentler, here are a few alternatives: 3M Citrus‑Based Cleaner (18.5 oz) — Same base formula, very similar performance. Goo Gone Adhesive Remover — Household-friendly citrus formula, great for lighter jobs. 3M Specialty Adhesive Remover (1 qt) — More aggressive for tough adhesives, but use carefully on plastics. Bottom Line: This 3M Citrus Base Adhesive Remover is a solid choice if you need a powerful, pleasant-smelling solution to remove sticker or tape residue and want something less harsh than petroleum-based solvents. Just be careful using it on delicate plastics, work in a ventilated area, and always test on a small patch first. If you tell me what kind of material you’re cleaning (plastic, glass, metal, car trim, etc.), I can help you figure out if this is the right choice — or suggest something more suitable.

Works On Smooth Black Plastic Without Discoloration Or Marring !
I use this to remove epoxy or some similar type of cement-like glue from smooth black plastic. My first attempt I waited the suggest 10-15min and used a cheap plastic scrapper t avoid damaging the plastic with some success applying heavy coats, meh... The real success is when I left the plastic soaked in it Overnight.. The next day, the nasty adhesive was 98% easier to remove, and there is no discoloration or any damage whatsoever. It seems very similar to Goo Gone, especially with the citrus aroma and incredibly oily consistency. There is plenty of product in the can, so theres no need to be conservative using it. I have no idea what the indoor store purchase price is but it is worth the money after using other pungent products that are not guaranteed to work. ** FYI: It has a wide spray pattern and the citrus smell can linger without proper ventilation.

Easily removes tough adhesive.
I needed something to remove tough doublesided adhesive that was left behind from previously installed equipment. I used a heat gun to remove the bulk adhesive then sprayed this 3M Adhesive Remover and used a cloth to remove the remaining adhesive leaving a like new surface. It takes the work out of the job. I highly recommend. As a side note, the way I found this product was I used to use another product that had a very strong chemical smell. It was like a strong finger nail polish remover. After several complaints it forced me to have to find another procuct. That product was this 3M Adhesive Remover. There is absolutely no chemical smell at all, and has a nice citris smell.

Dissolves the glue for easy removal
I was replacing the pad on a paddleboard and had to remove the old adhesive. Tried goof off and many other adhesive removers from the hardware store and none of them worked without a lot of rubbing and elbow grease. Decided to try the 3m product and am so glad I did. Instead of a liquid mess like the other products, all I had to do was spray the remover on the old adhesive, wait a few minutes, and either run a putty knife under or wipe off the dissolved glue. Tough spots required an additional application, but it was quick and easy. Finished the whole board in the time it took to remove a 10”x10” section with the other products. And I have most of the can left. A little goes a long way. And it doesn’t stink like other products.
