Chinchillas need a solid surface to run around on. Their feet will still get stuck on these. I have both rabbits and chinchillas. **Q: How is it for digging bunnies? And is this okay to put on rugs? My silverfox bun stays in an area and likes to try to dig the carpet** A: My chinchillas chewed it up. If they only dog than you should be fine. **Q: How does it snap to the bottom of the cage?** A: It does not snap into place - you can cut it to fit and it lays on the cage floor. Worked really well for me until my bunnies chewed it to pieces. **Q: Will these work for ferrets?** A: Sure would. I had a problem, though, as it didn’t sit on the cage bottom. The underside has “feet” that didn’t match up any way, just floated on cage.
