Highly recommended.
BETTY’S NEW NINJA I used to teach Seniors how to cook healthy and easy. Now I have found the ANSWER FOR SENIORS for a new device that makes cooking, baking, frying, and grilling easy. Because of it’s design, clean up is a breeze. To begin, TURN IN ON at the little circle to right of the start button. Decide what type of cooking you want like Bake, push the bake button then on the top left of temperature push the arrows up to the desired temperature. On the right push the arrows to the minutes you desire and then push start. I cook sweet potatoes several days a week. Wash and lightly add coconut oil. (It has been proven coconut oil is good at restoring memory) Push bake, put the temp arrow to 400 degrees, push start and when it says add, set the minutes. I find a small, sweet potato takes 10 minutes and large 30 to35. You can open the lid and stick a fork in the Potato to see if it is done, then close the lid and it will continue to cook without doing anything else. One important thing: When you open the lid the whole appliance tips back a little. It will not FALL backwards!! Baking a white potato requires the same procedure. After I oil the potato, I sprinkle a little sea salt or Keltic salt on them and then bake for 35 minutes. Depending on the size of the potato may require more or less time. Skin is crispy and inside the potato is ready for butter, sour cream, and grated cheese. Cheese melts beautifully. I am very impressed with the grill. We had several electric grills but none of them were as good as the Ninja. This appliance is perfect to use as a grill for apartments and condos. So far, I have not had noticeable smoke. Place you grill in the main pot lining up the indention to match the bulge on the main pot. Depending on what I am cooking I all ½ water in the main pot under the grill. Proceed to push the circle that turns on the appliance go to the left and push grill. It will show a temperature of 500. Push the start button with lid closed and wait till it says add. Brush your meat with coconut oil, salt, pepper, and any spices. Like rosemary or sage on pork chops or garlic and onion powder on hamburgers. Do both sides of the meat. The inside will be very HOT! Place the meat in the cooker with a long fork or tongs. If you carry the meat on a plate to the appliance you will not have drips to clean up. Go by the chart in the book for time to cook the meat. Pork chops are crisp with grill marks and very juicy inside. Steaks have grill marks but are very juicy. Since you need to let the meat rest after you take out your meat you can add asparagus for 6or7 minutes right where you cooked the meat. Be sure you oil salt, pepper and touch of lemon juice to the asparagus before putting it in the cooker. You can also cook frozen fries or home-made potato wedges in the crisper-on-crisper setting and then take out the crisper pot and put in the grill and reset to grill and cook your meat. You can hold the potatoes in the oven at 200 degrees till your meat is cooked. Chicken thighs with bones in work on the grill. Oil season salt, pepper and herbs like rosemary and place on grill cooking suggested time in the book. I cooked a 5-pound chicken on bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. When it was close to the internal temperature (thermometer) I turned off the cooker and pushed crisper for about 5 minutes and it crisped up the skin. The breast meat was very juicy. There were only about 2 Tablespoons of Chichen fat in the main pan. I stuffed the chicken with part of an apple and onion, seasoned with thyme, rosemary and sage salt and pepper. I oiled the chicken and seasoned the skin with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and rosemary. Some people bake pie and such on Bake and Roast. I am traditionalist in that I bake in my oven but will try it and let you know, Cleaning up is fantastic. Paper towels to get grease and crumbs removed, I take out the main pot and remove the grill after its cooled, clean the grease with paper towels and discard. Then I put hot water in the main pot with soap and then put the grill into the pot and let it soak while I clean up dishes. I then Rince off any particles and put all items into the dish washer. WHAT COULD BE EASIER AFTER COOKING. EASY QUICK CLEAN UP. It’s very important EVERY TIME you use the grill to take out the screen in the lid and put it in dishwasher or hand wash. If you do this each time the appliance will work better and you will prevent the possibility of a grease fire. I have reheated fried chicken. 2or3 minutes on crisp depending on quantity. Because of all the cooking choices and the grill, I would highly RECOMMED the Nija for quality of cooking and a very short amount of time for ease of clean up. You do not have to stand for long periods in the kitchen with this appliance because of how it cooks. You can cook some meals in 30 minutes. Saving your back knees, from standing for long periods. You can even prepare items in plastic bags and put them in the refrigerator and cook later. This would divide and shorten time in the kitchen.

Understand what you're getting, and adjust accordingly.
tl;dr: Good device. Worth getting in place of a normal air fryer due to its greater flexibility. It is, however, still a convection device. Keep in mind when cooking things. This is a first impression so far only using it to cook a few things so far, but my experience has been great - if with a few caveats. For full disclosure, I bought this with my own money and while it was about $30 off. I received what appeared by all accounts to be a brand new unit with that new appliance smell, complete with burning off excess plastics on first use. First things first: this is a fancy convection oven. It's a convection oven that gets to very high temperatures and has very strong air circulation, but it is - ultimately - a convection oven. Unlike a proper grill, this has a fan that is constantly circulating air which means it will cook things faster. Keep this in mind when using it and make adjustments to prevent overcooking your food. As a general rule, the recommended times that come with the device are to make something Well Done. For this purpose, they're accurate, but you probably will want to cut a few minutes off of those times for anything less than that. The device itself is straight forward to use. It has fairly standard oven/air fryer controls, but arranged a little differently. There are different functions that effectively change whether the air circulates in the unit or not, and there are macro temperature controls (low, med, high, max) that can be fine tuned from there. Time is only in intervals of whole minutes, which is slightly inconvenient, but Fine. When initially starting up and preheating, this thing is fairly loud. It doesn't stay loud for long, but can probably wake up a light sleeper in a small apartment. Probably not a huge issue, but one to be mindful of when using for the first time. I've cooked london broil and salmon with this using the Grill option (regular circulation) with the recommended temperature settings (High and Max accordingly.) As I mentioned before, be mindful of how much you want to cook something. The recommended settings always err toward Well Done. As an example: in the case of salmon, I cooked it for eight minutes the first time and it was just a touch more cooked than preferred. At seven minutes, it was perfect. As for the steak, don't make the same mistake I did the first time and keep opening the grill if you have a standard meat thermometer. All of that hot air is just going to escape and it'll take some time to get back up to temperature again. In my case, I was too paranoid about the doneness of the steak that I ended up slightly overcooking it (medium-well instead of medium-rare) due to having to bring the unit back to temperature in order for it to cook the center properly. In short: get a quick read thermometer, or just follow the guide line of shaving a minute or two off of recommended cook time based on desired doneness. As for the results, they still tasted great. The grill surface does get hot enough to make a nice sear into the meat. Like any convection oven, the circulating air keeps the food from drying out and the cuts of meat were left very juicy and tasty. Cleaning is easy for as long as the ceramic coating lasts. This is the same caveat as literally anything with a Teflon (or similar) coating. If you're especially paranoid, let everything soak in soap+water before cleaning it off. The brush it comes with does the job, but any sort of dish scrubbing brush (NOT WIRE PADS) should be just as good. Overall, my first impressions of this appliance are great. It is far easier, quicker, tastier, and more convenient than frying off or sticking something in the oven to broil. My wife and I have replaced the air fryer in our kitchen with this since it serves both purposes. If anything changes, I'll update this review. Update: We’ve cooked a larger variety of things including turkey legs, hamburgers, smaller wings and so on. Everything remains great. It’s been very easy to clean as well with no signs of chipping on the finish. I will say I do hand clean everything, but it shouldn’t make much difference in the dishwasher.

Why Are You Waiting? UPDATED!!
Just Get It!! After being inundated with smoke from cooking burgers inside for the hundredth time, I jumped at the chance to try this. Combined with the fact that the kids have all left the nest, the practicality off it just made sense. Let me tell you, I don’t think there has been a week that has gone by where I don’t use it at least 3 times. I absolutely love it. The hardest part is trying to figure out how to cook certain items that aren’t listed and then how to adjust the times and temps for other things. It is completely true that you can cook anything from it’s frozen state without losing flavor or juiciness. In fact after figuring out how to fit it in, I Cooked a whole frozen roaster in it with amazing results. You do need to check it and flip it a few times as you go. But Remember, remove the giblet bag! I just baked a fresh store bought Stromboli to perfection. I cannot be more thrilled with this. It has saved time, money, and has made it so much fun to cook. What’s more, absolutely No Smoke. Cleaning is really a breeze. Yeah the Crevices on the grill are a bit of a pain, but soak it in hot soapy water and it almost slides off. My only wish was that it was clearer what to use roast and bake for as I really don’t see what the difference is. I mean all 5 settings do the same thing right? Just at different temps which you can control anyway so that’s a tad confusing. But otherwise this indoor grill has got to be the single best purchase I have made for the kitchen. Hands down. UPDATE 2/17/20 6 months owned What can I say, after 6 months this is still the best kitchen purchase I have made. I only wish I had the means, because I would not hesitate to give each member of my family this as a Christmas/birthday gift. While I still struggle at times to figure out times, temps and cooking programs on certain items, I rarely overcook anything. I also find the timing of cooking multiple items a fun little challenge, but I believe I have figured many of them out. I am constantly looking for dinner items to cook in the grill. And what's even better is that even though I use this 4 - 5 times a week, I still have no issue whatsoever keeping the grill plate clean, which has to be my favorite feature.

Great Cooker/Grill But Be Aware of Maintenance
This unit combines a grill with a convection oven. Be realistic. There is no substitute for charcoal but I am precluded by local law and my condo association from barbecuing on my terrace. The Foodi offers a good sear and SOME of the flavor you would get from a charcoal grill. I have had excellent results with this thing. If you do not have a dishwasher, you might want to think twice. There are a lot of parts to be cleaned. I have a Cuisinart contact grill that became all but useless. The teflon coating has worn off top and bottom plates and everything sticks like crazy - usually to the top plate. Replacing the plates is about the same cost as replacing the machine. Even if there were not a sticking problem there is no comparison between the two appliances. The Foodi is far superior. The Foodi has an enamel coating that is very slick and should be far more durable than teflon. You ABSOLUTELY need a meat thermometer - the external kind with a cable or bluetooth connector to the probe. You will never have satisfactory result with a timer. Overall this cooks much quicker than an oven or a conventional grill because of the convection effect. Cooking times will vary depending upon fat content and size. The mean thermometer (around 2 bucks) takes the guesswork out of the process. I made some fennel sausage last weekend. I grilled these without the thermometer. I managed to overcook the links. I use commercial grade hog casing (my poor mother kept kosher) and the casing split. On the other hand I grilled some double rib lamb chops with the thermometer and they were done to perfection - a few degrees lower than desired and then allowed to rest for five minutes. Seared on the outside, medium rare on the inside. On the grill you are limited to four temperature zones. If you roast you can set the temperature to any point like an ordinary oven. I have not tried it but apparently you can air fry a breaded chicken cutlet. We will see. It would be a real plus. I have a sensitive, hard-wired smoke alarm and it went off when I turned the chops. Frankly it wasn't necessary to turn. As advertised is sears all around. I will turn them the next time as well but open my terrace doors first. You MIGHT want to obtain kevlar oven gloves. The reason I said that is that they enable you to remove the components while they are still hot and wipe the down with a paper towel before the D/W. No need to use the brush. Everything just slides off. There are three parts to clean: The grill, the pot and the splatter shield. My definition of clean is however, er, ... stuff comes out of the dishwasher. There was something in the manual about soaking the splatter shield for 24 hours. Yeah, sure. I'll get right on that. Overall - unless you are expecting robust charcoal barbecue taste - most people will be satisfied. As an indoor grill I would give it six stars if I could.

Tastes as good as a steakhouse steak!
I’ve had several appliances that are supposed to give you that “grilled outside taste”, but none of them has measured up - from the George Forman grill to Emirle Lagasse’s air fryer - both are now outside in the shed. But this Ninja Foodi grill actually does what it says it will do. I hate the hassle of starting a grill with charcoal or having to deal with propane tanks. The indoor appliances don’t give me the taste I’m looking for. Everything is bland and I end up giving it to the dog. Then I ordered this for myself for my birthday. OMG! 😱 What a difference! I grilled a strip steak in just 20 minutes. It was perfectly charred outside and perfectly medium pink inside. I can’t believe how good it was! It tasted like it was grilled outside. It would be hard to tell the difference between a steak grilled on a Foodi grill and a steakhouse steak - it was that good! It’s easy to clean up, but it is heavy - probably not something you want to pull in and out of the cupboard on a regular basis. But you’ll be using it so often, you’ll want a permanent place for it on the countertop or utility table. I took a star away for 2 reasons: 1) the recipe book that comes with it focuses on family size meals - 4 burgers, 4 steaks, 5 hot dogs, 5 ears of corn. I’m one person. So I’ve had to play with cooking times for 1 steak, 1 burger, etc. 2) the pot, basket, and grill do not all fit into the unit together. If you place all 3 in the unit, you can’t close the top. This is bad for storage. If you put the grill in the pot, you have to find a place to store the basket. If you put the basket in the pot, you have to find a place for the grill. Not all 3 fit nicely together. Personally, I think this is a design flaw and could be fixed in future models, as could the recipe book. Otherwise, this is a 5-star appliance. One more thing - it says don’t use olive oil because it smokes use vegetable or canola oil - after being brainwashed to use olive oil. I discovered if you’re grilling meat, you don’t need any oil. Meat generates enough grease on its own. You will need it if you’re grilling veggies. My only regret now is that my meat bill is going to significantly increase. And my dog is disappointed because she’s no longer getting half a steak!

🔥 Worth Every Penny — I Don’t Even Miss Having a Real Grill
I’ve had this grill since late 2022, and it’s still one of the best things in my kitchen. It’s held up beautifully through constant use, and I’m honestly impressed with how well it performs every single time. We don’t have an outdoor grill, but this little machine turns out actual steaks, like, crispy-seared, juicy-center, restaurant-quality steaks. No babysitting the heat. No flare-ups. Just 500°F of countertop magic. The interface is simple, cleanup is easy, and it doesn’t make the house smell like smoke. I’ve done steaks, chicken, veggies, even quick reheats, and it handles all of them beautifully. Only downside? Don’t overcrowd it. If you try to squeeze in too much at once, you’ll lose that gorgeous sear. Give it space and you’ll be rewarded. Now yes, the price is up there. But considering how many meals we’ve made on it, I’d say it’s paid for itself ten times over. It’s replaced our need for a bulky outdoor grill, holds up year after year, and honestly makes me feel like a grill master without ever leaving the kitchen. If you’re on the fence, this is your sign. Just buy it. Photo proof attached, just look at that crust. You’d never guess it came off a plug-in grill. Ninja nailed it with this one.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM>
Absolute rip off. Would never buy another Ninja product. Disgraceful. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. Tried all the convertors but blew electrics. Now have to pay the postage to return this awful product. Just disgusted with the product. Queried it with the sellers when I received it but just does not work properly in the UK even with convertors and just blew all the electrics. The convertor recommended does not work and is not the right one despite ensuring I ordered the right one. Wasted two weeks now for nothing. Never buying a Ninja product again because of this. Utter disgrace.

Awesome for the Kitchen
This product was ordered at the start of the summer and it has served us well. With living in an apartment it is hard to barbeque, but this is a great grill and air crisper in one. It was reasonably priced and small enough to take with you in the car to use anywhere there is electricity.
